Aaron Rodgers had no influence on the Pittsburgh Steelers regarding Shedeur Sanders not being selected in the first round of the 2025 Draft. That was the clear message from the teamâs owner, Art Rooney II, during an interview with Steelers Nation Radio.
âNo. We really did not factor whether Aaronâs coming or not into that. I mean, look, if we draft a quarterback, and we still might, itâs probably not somebody thatâs gonna start for us this year. Itâs gonna be somebody that weâll be developing and may play down the road. So, itâs not like it, as far as Iâm concerned, not like somebody thatâs going to have a big impact on this season if we draft a quarterback.â
Rooneyâs stance seems to strengthen the theory that Rodgers would sign with the Steelers, aiming to win another Super Bowl to finish his career. However, nothing is official yet.
Who will be Steelersâ starting quarterback?
Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the team is waiting for what the player decides, considering the star revealed that he has personal issues within his inner circle.
In case Rodgers rejects them, Mason Rudolph would be the alternative plan. Additionally, considering that Khan promised four quarterbacks on the roster, this would activate the possibility of seeking a trade for Kirk Cousins.

In this situation with a lack of quarterbacks, Rooney is surprised by the reaction of many fans after not selecting Sanders. âYou know, itâs amazing. The thing thatâs really amazing, thereâs some people that take it personally. Like, theyâre mad that we didnât take him who were on TV.â
