Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs will try to accomplish something that has been very difficult in recent decades: returning to the Super Bowl after losing the game for the title in the previous season.
The positive news is that their core group of stars will remain intact, with Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce, after the tight end confirmed he is not retiring from the NFL. A last dance to try and say goodbye with one more ring.
However, the AFC looks highly competitive with teams like the Baltimore Ravens, the Houston Texans, and, of course, Josh Allen leading the Buffalo Bills. Additionally, their division wonât be easy, with the Broncos and Chargers in the mix.
Who will Chiefs sign?
The latest buzz surrounding the Chiefs is that George Karlaftis will be the next player to sign a contract extension. In the three seasons he has played, the young defensive end has recorded 24.5 sacks â eight of them in 2024.
The situation has caused some frustration among many Chiefs fans, as they donât understand why general manager Brett Veach decided to address Karlaftis first instead of other stars like Trent McDuffie.

However, Karlaftis has been a very reliable player in defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuoloâs system and, importantly, his new deal will be much cheaper than McDuffieâs. The announcement could come around training camp, securing a key piece to boost their championship hopes on that side of the ball alongside Chris Jones.
