The Pittsburgh Steelers continue trying to find their franchise quarterback in a mission that has gone several years without success. After the retirement of Ben Roethlisberger, they have tried different formulas but, although they have remained playoff contenders, they have not been able to return to the Super Bowl.

In 2025, Mike Tomlin believed Aaron Rodgers was the answer. However, despite winning the AFC North, the Steelers were once again eliminated early in the postseason. That brought many changes, including Tomlin’s departure.

Now, Mike McCarthy begins a new chapter in Pittsburgh, known around the NFL as a great quarterback whisperer after working with names like Brett Favre, Rodgers, and Dak Prescott. Because of that, a constant rumor in recent weeks is whether or not he will decide to draft a QB.

Who will the Steelers pick in the 2026 NFL Draft?

According to a report from Gerry Dulac, the Steelers are not going to draft a quarterback in the first round, as he does not believe there is anyone with enough talent to justify the No. 21 overall pick.

Nevertheless, that does not mean they will not address the position. In fact, one name starting to gain traction is Carson Beck, who could be available in later rounds.

“The Steelers have little intention of taking a quarterback with their No.1 pick because they don’t believe there is another first-round quarterback after Fernando Mendoza. But, one of the reasons they like Miami’s Carson Beck is that he has started 43 games, counting his time when he won a national title at Georgia.”
