The Tampa Bay Buccaneers dropped the ball when they faced the Chicago Bears at home for Thursday Night Football, losing 20-19 on a game that they were in control for most of the four quarters.
Shockingly, Tom Brady should be the one to blame for the loss, as he could have put his team in a position to win it with a short pass in fourth and six but instead threw a huge bomb down the field.
It seemed like Brady actually forgot what down it was and the fact that he left the field in the blink of an eye only made people more suspicious about his hilarious and unprecedented mistake.
Tom Brady Says He Needed More Yardage
However, the future Hall of Famer quarterback said that he indeed knew that they were playing fourth down and that he saw a good opportunity down the field but just didn’t execute it the way he should have.
“I knew we needed a chunk and I was thinking about more yardage and then, you know, it was just, it was bad execution. We had a great opportunity there. So just didn’t execute when we needed to do. We just… you’re up against the clock and I knew we had to gain a chunk so I should have been thinking more first down instead of chunk on that down,” Brady told NBC Sports.
Bruce Arians Says Brady Knew It Was Fourth Down
“Yeah, he knew. He knew,” coachBruce Arianssaid when asked whether he thought that Brady knew that they were facing fourth down and six, as it seemed like he thought it was third down and six instead.
That loss dropped the renewed Tampa Bay Buccaneers to 3-2 on the season and you could make a strong case that both Tom Brady had a lot of responsibility on both of those losses but hey, you should never count him out.
