Brock Boeser’s time with the Vancouver Canucks is nearing its end. The veteran forward for the Canadian franchise is set to become a free agent, and according to recent reports, he may have already found a new team for the 2025–26 NHL season.
During the past season, the Canucks reportedly offered Boeser a five-year, $40 million extension, but he turned it down. The decision did not sit well within the Vancouver organization, and the relationship between the team and the player appears to be beyond repair. In that context, a new destination has emerged.
Boeser is now expected to join the Minnesota Wild next season after leaving Vancouver. According to NHL insider Nick Kypreos, the forward is on the verge of signing a long-term deal once free agency opens on July 1.
Minnesota awaits Boeser
Boeser could be headed back to his home state of Minnesota, having been born in Burnsville. His history speaks for itself, with over 200 career goals in 554 regular-season games, making him a prime target for the Wild.

Last year, Boeser tallied 25 goals and 50 points in 75 games, solid production from a forward who would arrive in Minnesota at age 28 with the goal of boosting the team’s offense alongside Kirill Kaprizov on the right wing.

While Boeser’s arrival would be great news, the Wild are likely to lose center Marco Rossi amid reported frustrations over contract negotiations. With approximately $15.7 million in cap space, Minnesota has the flexibility to sign Boeser and still explore additional roster moves.
