The Detroit Red Wings boast star players in the NHL, including Patrick Kane. However, it’s not only the present that matters for the franchise; there are also moments to honor past stars, especially those who have won the Stanley Cup.
Kane has become the current face of the Wings since his arrival in 2023 and continues to strengthen his legacy in the city. The veteran forward still has much to contribute during his tenure in Detroit, solidifying his role as an offensive leader. Additionally, he was one of the U.S. players invited to the Olympic Orientation Camp.
At the same time, Detroit is taking the time to plan a lasting and symbolic tribute for one of its greatest stars: Sergei Fedorov, the three-time Stanley Cup champion with the Red Wings, who now has a date set for the retirement of his jersey number.
When will Fedorov’s number be retired by the Red Wings?
The Red Wings announced that Sergei Fedorov’s No. 91 will be officially retired on January 12, 2026, during a pregame ceremony against the Carolina Hurricanes at Little Caesars Arena. Fedorov, an eternal member of the historic “Russian Five” and a key figure in the dynasty that won three Stanley Cups, will see his jersey raised to honor his unforgettable career.
