Following another disappointing season, Barcelona will once again face reconstruction. They began a new process at the end of last season, but results showed that they still have work to do. One of the Cules' signings for this season, Miralem Pjanic, didn't meet the expectations and could be on the verge of an exit only one year after he arrived.

The Bosnian landed in Spain after a swap deal in which Arthur was sent to Juventus, as the Catalans hoped to see an upgrade in the midfield. However, things didn't turn out well and the midfielder barely saw the pitch this season

Young sensation Pedri became a key piece in Ronald Koeman's starting lineup instead, and even other prospects like Ilaix Moriba have been considered before Pjanic by the Dutch manager. The club might be looking to let him go this summer, and they already put their sights on a Chelsea star to try an exchange move.

Pjanic's future no longer in Barcelona, Chelsea midfielder is on the Cules' radar

Being forced to make changes to finally build a powerful team that gets back to glory days, Barcelona have already been linked with several big names for the upcoming season. Meanwhile, they may also be thinking about making some space in their squad.

According to Sport, the Blaugranas want to sell Miralem Pjanic, but as clubs couldn't afford a big transfer fee, they would be eager to trade him. The Spanish newspaper reported that Chelsea's Jorginho is a potential target for proposing a swap deal.

The Italian has been impressing with the Blues ever since Thomas Tuchel took the helm in January, and his performances may have charmed Barca's board. However, the Italian is an important piece for the German coach and he is also under contract until 2023.

Right now, the trade wouldn't be fair for the English side, as it would be giving away one of its most decisive players, who makes a great duo with N'Golo Kanté in the center of the pitch, for an older midfielder that didn't have much playing time this season.

One thing seems for sure, though. Pjanic's time in Barcelona will probably come to an end once the current term is over. He couldn't fill Arthur's shoes and the club is already figuring out other options, such as Jorginho.
