The DFL Supercup 2021 will see Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund clash for the first trophy at stake of the season on Tuesday, August 17. The winner of the Supercup will be decided in a single match held at Signal Iduna Park. 

The German Supercup is held annually and it’s played between the Bundesliga champions and the DFB-Pokal winners. The game is usually played before the start of the new season. The winner is decided in a single match, without extra time. If there’s a tie after the 90 minutes, the match is decided by a penalty shootout.

How much is the DFL Supercup 2021 trophy worth?

Since 2010, the winner of the DFL Supercup gets a beautiful trophy made up of two arms that hold a chrome ball. Each arm represents one competition. One is silver and symbolizes the Champion's Salad Bowl that is handed to the Bundesliga champions. 

The other arm is gold and represents the trophy of the German Cup. The trophy is 53 centimeters tall and weighs more than six kilos. The design was a creation by silversmiths Koch & Bergfeld in Bremen.

According to the Bundesliga page, it is insured for €40,000 (47,113.60 dollars). However, the winner of the Super Cup only keeps the trophy for one season and then they must return it to the DFL for the next edition.
