This Monday marked the conclusion of the opening round of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. Earlier in the day, Group B was decided with Paris Saint-Germain and Botafogo advancing to the round of 16. In the evening, Group A—featuring Inter Miami, Porto, Palmeiras, and Al Ahly—was also finalized.

Inter Miami drew 2-2 with Palmeiras, despite having led for most of the match. Meanwhile, Al Ahly drew 4-4 vs Porto in a wild game full of lead changes and dramatic turns. With those results, both the Brazilian and American sides secured their spots in the next round.

Palmeiras finished as Group A leaders with 5 points, the same total as Inter Miami, but held the tiebreaker thanks to a superior goal differential throughout the tournament (+2 vs +1).
