West Bromwich played against Chelsea on Saturday, September 26, 2020,at 12:30 PM (ET), in a Round 3 match of the2020-21 Premier League season. The matchup turned out to be super-exciting asChelsea came back from three goals down to salvage a point.
Frank Lampard’s side suffered a shock start after Marcos Alonso gave the ball away in his halfand Callum Robinson netted in the 4th minute. To make matters worse, newly-promoted Blues captain,Thiago Silva had the worst possible Premier League debut for his new club.
It was during the 25th minute when the Brazilian veteran suddenly slipped, gifting Robinson his second goal of the game. Two minutes later, Chelsea’s defence totally failed, leaving West Bromwich‘s Kyle Bartley unmarked. By then, everyone thought that that was it.
However, in the second half, the Blues entered the field widely-motivated, and whatever it is was thatLampard told them in the locker room, somehow worked. In the 55th minute, Mason Mount made a long-range shot that found the net. Inspired by that goal, Chelsea started pushing for the second.
In the 70th minute, Kai Havertz entered WBA’s penalty area and assisted to Callum Hudon-Odoi for a result of 3-2. Then, it was deep into injury time when Tammy Abrahamadded to the scoresheet with a tap in, rescuing a tough point for CFC.
