Mexico'snew home kit for 2021 was revealed today. There was a certain expectation to see which would be the new uniforms for the national soccer team ahead of the Concacaf Gold Cup and the World Cup Qualifiers. However, after some excitement before the release, once the kit was unveiled, there was a lot of disappointment in Mexican fans.

The new home kit doesn't have the traditional green and red colors of the flag and instead includes pink and black, unrelated to Mexico's historic primary jerseys. Making such a decision of leaving aside the most traditional characteristics of the jersey is a risk, as people would expect at least that the uniform has those colors.

After the release of the kit, there were different reactions to it. Some were impressed by the creativity for the jersey and praised the colors as well, but there were many surprised people at this unprecedented uniform for Mexico.

Pink and black over green and red: The reactions to Mexico's new home uniform

Why would a national team play without their historic colors? That may happen when using an away jersey, of course, but the home kits are frequently based on the country's flag or with a traditional uniform, changing only the pattern and design.

Mexico's new home uniform has nothing to do with their usual jerseys, as the kit will not have the emblematic green color, nor red either. The brand that designs their uniforms decided to try with black and pink for the Tri's primary jersey. Immediately, fans took on social media to react to this news, as people from other nations shared their thoughts as well.

All in all, Mexico won't be playing with a traditional home jersey this year. Instead, they're going to use a much more different and even strange kit as their primary, a decision that disappointed many fans, who don't feel comfortable seeing their nation without the colors of the flag.
