Following the shocking news of his forced departure from Barcelona, it didn't take long until Lionel Messi found a new home. Apparently, he's keen to join Paris Saint-Germain.

Even though Lionel Messi is – undoubtedly – one of the greatest players in soccer history, the fact that he left Barcelona didn’t mean that he would have plenty of – real – offers sitting at his table.

While every single team on Earth would die to have the Argentine superstar on its ranks, the hard truth is that just a handful of teams can afford half the salary it would take for Messi to even consider their offer.

Unsurprisingly, that’s where Paris Saint-Germain swooped in. The French giants have enough cash to spare and, now that Messi is walking away for free, they don’t even have to sell Kylian Mbappé to get it done.

Report: Lionel Messi Will Join PSG

PSG didn’t hesitate to make a run at Messi and, according to multiple reports, it seems like Number 10 has already made up his mind and will join Mauricio Pochettino’s side over the weekend.

“Lionel #Messi has chosen to join #PSG – 2 years + 1 on option for the contract – the club is looking to wrap up the signing over the weekend, and is set to meet with Jorge Messi in the next few hours,” reported Mohamed Bouhafsi.

“Paris Saint-Germain are close to sign Leo Messi, confirmed. PSG are preparing the official contract until June 2023 to be submitted to Messi and his father Jorge in the next hours #Messi. Messi’s open to join PSG. Neymar was pushing in the last 24h. PSG are so, so confident,” added Fabrizio Romano.

Needless to say, this will put Paris Saint-Germain at the top of the contenders’ list for the next edition of the UEFA Champions League. An attacking front of Messi, Neymar, and Mbappé is like something out of a video game.

As for La Liga, their statues doomed them to lose the biggest – and maybe even only – star left on their tournament. This could be the beginning of the end for what once was one of the most prestigious competitions in the world.
