This season is shaping up to be a monumental one for Cristiano Ronaldo. The Portuguese superstar is thriving with Al Nassr, as the Saudi Pro League title looks more attainable with every passing match.

Beyond team success, Ronaldo remains firmly in the race for the Saudi Pro League Golden Boot; securing it would mark his third consecutive scoring title, a historic milestone in the league.

If Ronaldo clinches the Golden Boot by the end of the season, he will become only the third player in league history to win the award three times in a row. He would join an elite club featuring Al Ahli legend Omar Al Somah (2014/15 to 2016/17) and Al Nassr icon Majed Abdullah (1978/79 to 1980/81).

The Golden Boot standings

With just five rounds remaining, Ronaldo faces a challenging but surmountable gap. The Al Nassr captain currently sits in third place with 24 goals, trailing Al Qadisiyah’s Julian Quiñones (26 goals) and the current league leader, Al Ahli’s Ivan Toney, who has netted 27 times so far.

However, Al Nassr’s path to the finish line is grueling, which could complicate Ronaldo’s pursuit of the scoring crown. Following their victory over Al Ettifaq, Jorge Jesus’ men are scheduled to face a trio of giants: Al Ahli (3rd), Al Qadisiyah (4th), and a potential title-deciding showdown against Al Hilal (2nd). They will close the season at home against Damac, a side currently fighting to avoid relegation.

Toney holds the edge in durability

In the battle for the Golden Boot, Toney holds a slight advantage in terms of consistency, having missed only one match this season. In contrast, Quiñones has been absent for three fixtures, while Ronaldo has missed four.

The Portuguese icon was sidelined for two matches earlier in the season due to a dispute with the Saudi Public Investment Fund (PIF) and missed two additional games following a recent hamstring injury.

Now fully recovered, Ronaldo is expected to be full focus during the final stretch as he aims to secure both his first official trophy in Saudi Arabia and a historic third straight Golden Boot.
