The US won 2,520 medals, including 1,022 gold, 793 silver, and 705 bronze, from the inaugural Olympic Games in 1986 in Athens prior to the start of the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. As this year’sGames have reached theirend, the record has been extended up to 1,061 gold medals, 834 silver, and 738 bronze Olympicmedals.

Even though the United States trailed China throughout most of the Games, they finished with the largest number of total medals won of any country.The American athletes have collected 113 medals, including 39 gold medals, 41 silver, and 33 bronze. The USA managed to grab three triumphsduring the final day of theOlympics, in women’s basketball and volleyball, and cycling, where the American team won its first-ever gold medal.

In addition, the women’s soccer were shocked by Canada in the Semi-Finals, and thus, the Stars and Stripes had to satisfy with winningthird place i.e the bronze medal.
