On Thursday, Jannik Sinner earned a straight-sets victory over Aleksandar Vukic to book his place in the third round of Wimbledon. The win also extended an impressive streak for the World No. 1 at the tournament.

With his 6-1, 6-1, 6-3 win over Vukic, Sinner remains the only player at Wimbledon who has not dropped a single set during the competition. This stat includes Thursday’s win over the Australian as well as his first-round victory, a 6-4, 6-3, 6-0 result against Luca Nardi in his tournament opener on the London grass.

Despite the comfortable margin, Jannik had to work harder to close out the third set against Vukic. He missed five match points while serving at 5-3 before finally sealing the win. Asked about the moment during his post-match press conference, the Italian star was candid. ā€œI enjoyed it because I won the game,ā€ he said, according to the official ATP Tour website.

ā€œThe match can change very quickly. If he breaks me there, it could go a long distance, so I’m very happy to finish,ā€ Sinner added. ā€œI felt the level was at a good point today, but I can improve a couple of things.ā€

Asked about the upcoming challenge, Sinner remained cautious despite the difference in ranking between him and Martinez. ā€œEvery opponent is very difficult, third-round matches in Grand Slams are something special,ā€ he said. ā€œAs we saw, there have been many upsets this tournament, so we try to stay focused and raise our level.ā€

Sinner chasing first Wimbledon title

In his five previous appearances at Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner has never captured the title—or even reached the final. His best showing came in 2023, when he fell in the semifinals to Novak Djokovic. He also made the quarterfinals in 2022 and again in 2024.

This year, the World No. 1 may have his best shot, not only because of his strong individual form, but also because his top rival, Carlos Alcaraz, is on the opposite side of the draw—meaning they could only meet in a potential final. Still, to reach that stage, Jannik may have to get past stars like Djokovic.
