For most of their history, the Duke Blue Devils have been one of the biggest powerhouses in college basketball. Love them or hate them, no one can disrespect them.
Notably, that didnāt change when the legendary Mike āCoach Kā Krzyzewski retired. Jon Scheyer replaced him, and heās done a great job of preserving the programās identity and status.
Scheyer is emerging as a rising star in the college basketball scene. With that in mind, Kyle Boone of CBS Sports predicted that he will be the next young coach to win his first national championship.

āItās not just postseason success at Duke that foretells of a coach bound to reach the pinnacle,ā Boone said. āScheyerās 89 total wins since 2022-23 are second-most behind only Houston coach Kelvin Sampson and UConn coach Dan Hurley. Thatās tied for the most wins by a Division I head coach in their first three seasons joining Brad Stevens and Brad Underwood.ā

Of course, he still needs to get over the hump, but judging by what weāve seen from him so far, heās clearly trending in the right direction in his young coaching career.
Who knows? Even though this version of the Blue Devils might not have as many future NBA players as last yearās team, perhaps they will fare better when it matters the most.
