<p>Ever since the dawn of<a href="http://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> college basketball</a>, the <strong>Duke Blue Devils</strong> have been one of those teams everybody loves to hate. They’re a powerhouse, and they have as many fans as haters.</p>



<p>That has plenty to do with the revolving door of superstar prospects they’ve had in their ranks. And, being their coach for decades,<strong> Mike ‘Coach K’ Kryzyewski</strong> coached his fair share of superstars.</p>



<p>That’s why there’s no one better to rank Duke players than him. And in a recent interview, he finally put the debate between <strong>Grant Hill, Christian Laettner, and Cooper Flagg</strong> to rest. </p>



<h2>Coach K says Cooper Flagg is the greatest Duke freshman of all time</h2>



<p><em>“Grant [Hill] is the best player to ever play at Duke, [Christian] Laettner is the most accomplished,”</em> Kryzyewski said. <strong><em>“Cooper [Flagg] is definitely the best freshman that has ever played.”</em></strong></p>

<p>While he didn’t lead the team to a national championship, it’s hard to disagree with Coach Kryzyewski <strong>when we take a look at Flagg’s remarkable numbers as a freshman.</strong></p>

<p>Flagg led the team in all major categories, averaging <strong>19.2 points, 7.5 rebounds, 4.2 assists, 1.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks per gam</strong>e, cementing himself as the consensus first-overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. </p>

<p>For most of their history, the <strong>Duke Blue Devils</strong> have had nothing but the crème of the crop. They always get some of the highest-touted and most sought-after recruits in the nation.</p>



<p>Notably, that won’t be the exception to this rule. They secured commitments from star twins <strong>Cameron and Cayden Boozer,</strong> who will follow in their father’s footsteps in Durham before turning pro.</p>



<p>Cameron is the higher-ranked prospect between the two. However, it seems like he’s seen <strong>his NIL value drop by slightly over $500,000 </strong>over the past couple of weeks.</p>



<h2>Cameron Boozer’s NIL value drops</h2>



<p><strong><em>“On Tuesday, the 6-foot-9, 235-pounder’s NIL valuation dropped by $68,000, bringing it down into the $1.5 million range</em></strong>,” reported Spencer Ostrow.</p>

<p>Needless to say, it’s not like the young star is in for the money. His father did pretty well during his playing days, so he and his brothers <strong>don’t have to work a day in their lives.</strong></p>

<p>Now, the NIL era has allowed programs to do that upfront, all while the players are free to sign endorsement deals. Needless to say, that has been v<strong>ery lucrative to some.</strong></p>



<p>Notably, that includes Duke superstar <strong>Cooper Flagg</strong>, the highest-ranked prospect in his class. According to a report by sports journalist and author Howard Bryant, the young forward made a lot of money as a freshman. </p>



<h2>Cooper Flagg made $28 million in college</h2>



<p>“<strong><em>He had a $13 million deal with New Balance and then $15 million with Fanatics,</em></strong>” Bryant revealed.</p>

<p>With that kind of money, he could’ve definitely stayed on campus for at least another season, like he said he wanted. Then again, that<strong> was never a realistic possibility.</strong></p>

<p>Goodman noted the similarities between the Boozers and the guard and center who led the Buckeyes to the <strong>NCAA championship game in 2006,</strong> even in the way they handled themselves and the attention they attracted.&nbsp;</p>



<p><strong><em>“They are special,</em></strong>” he said. <em>“I said this about my comparison to John yesterday – Mike Conley to Cayden. But they’re different players. Nobody thought he’d (Conley) be a one-and-done and they’re different because Conley had blazing speed.”</em></p>



<p><strong><em>“But more the fact that Conley played in Oden’s shadow,”</em></strong> Goodman added.<em> “He came in and nobody … he was kind of the sidekick. It’s the same thing with Cayden to Cam; he’s kind of in the shadow there. Everybody talks about Cam being a double-double machine, which he is. Cayden’s really, really good.”</em></p>

<p>Nevertheless,<strong> John Hollinger of The Athletic</strong> reported that some scouts weren’t as high on Knueppel after the NBA Draft Combine, as he turned out to be a little shorter than expected. </p>



<h2>Kon Knueppel’s measurements could hurt his draft stock</h2>



<p>“<em>Duke wing Kon Knueppel measured a bit smaller than expected at 6-5 in socks — he was listed at 6-7 — <strong>and that may cause teams to reevaluate him as a one-position guard rather than a true wing.</strong> Knueppel sat out the shooting drills and athletic testing with an injury,” </em>wrote Hollinger.</p>

<p>Of course, at the end of the day, scouts often overlook those minor red flags when the talent is there, and K<strong>nueppel’s skills and impact have never been doubted. </strong></p>

<p>Flagg’s ability to stretch the floor with his shooting and protect the rim with his defense makes him a unique player. He’s like <strong>a guard trapped in a seven-footer’s body.</strong></p>



<p>Nevertheless, as impressive as his game and measurements are, former NBA champion <strong>Tony Allen</strong> still isn’t buying the hype. Instead, he thinks he will be a very good role player. </p>

<p>“<em>I don’t think Cooper Flagg going to turn your franchise around like that,</em>” Allen said. <em>“I’m serious. I ain’t seein’ KD (Kevin Durant). <p>Scheyer has yet to lead the team to a national championship, something his legendary predecessor did five times throughout the course of his <strong>42 years with the program.</strong></p>

<p>However, Father Time spares no victims, and with the college sports scene transitioning <strong>towards a new era,</strong> the legendary coach knew it was time to step down.</p>



<p>That’s why he left the program after 42 years and five national championships. Now, years after his departure, he opened up on<strong> how much he dislikes the current state of affairs.</strong></p>



<h2>Coach K says NCAA is now run like a business</h2>



<p><strong><em>“I think college basketball now is pretty much like the NBA, except there’s no transparency,”</em></strong> Krzyzewski said on ‘The Herd’. <em>“In other words, you’re at one school, I’m at another. I don’t know what you’re doing for a player. You don’t know what I’m doing for a player, and it’s really professional right now, or college basketball, but the product is outstanding, and kids are staying longer because of NIL.”</em></p>

<p>Of course, it only makes sense that the players get paid for the hard job they’re putting in and what they’re putting their bodies through.<strong> It wasn’t fair that only the NCAA got to profit (at least legally or publicly) from it.</strong></p>

<p>At the end of the day, you have to adapt or perish, and programs like Duke will never find much trouble finding the resources or convincing players <strong>to join them in Durham.</strong></p>

<p>With the <strong>2025 NBA Draft </strong>Lottery already in the rearview mirror, everybody scrambled to update their big boards and projections for the young players about to enter the league.</p>



<p>Needless to say, the <strong>Dallas Mavericks </strong>getting the first-overall pick — and with it, Cooper Flagg — was the talk of the hour, but it wasn’t the only storyline worth following.</p>



<p>If anything, Flagg won’t be the only Duke star about to enter the league. And according to a report by HoopsHype, an unnamed executive believes that<strong> Kon Knueppel</strong> can also be a top-five selection. </p>



<h2>Executive says Kon Knueppel could be a top-five pick</h2>



<p><strong><em>“Kon Knueppel could also go Top 5 if it’s a team that does need to win right away,</em></strong>” the exec said.<em> “He’s an offense-first version. Like a better shooting De’Andre Hunter, but with a little less defense. Hunter’s much longer than Knueppel. But the whole point is the role versatility. You’re betting on IQ, shooting, and fit.”</em></p>

<p>As things stand now, Knueppel is projected to fall just outside of the top five. But if this prediction comes to fruition, he could go to the<strong> Dallas Mavericks, San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, Charlotte Hornets, or Utah Jazz.</strong></p>

<p>Needless to say, he will have his work cut out for him to climb his way to the top five, and the first-overall pick is an open secret at this point, <strong>but we’ve seen crazier things happen.</strong></p>
