For this game, the star of the ‘Reds’ started as a substitute. It was a surprising decision by the German coach. 



In such a crucial game, Klopp left his main player on the bench and then an unexpected moment occurred that shocked everyone.

<h2>What happened between Mohamed Salah and Jürgen Klopp?</h2>



At the moment when Mohamed Salah was about to enter the field, Jürgen Klopp approached him and said something in the player’s ear. It was a short but assertive message. 


 

 


Upon hearing it, the Pharaoh couldn’t contain himself and began to launch all kinds of reproaches at his coach. In front of the entire stadium, he clashed with the German while shouting at him.

After the game, when several reporters were about to ask Salah about what happened, the Egyptian player responded: “It’s gonna be fire if I speak.” Meanwhile, Klopp assured that the matter was closed. “We spoke about that moment in the dressing room with the lads, it’s done.”

According to The Athletic, the Saudi Arabian outfit is willing to offer an astonishing €235 million to land Liverpool superstar <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/mohamed-salah">Mohamed Salah</a> next season. That would make the Egypt international the most expensive player in soccer history.



<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/psg">Paris Saint-Germain</a> currently hold the record by forking out €222 million for the Brazilian star, who went on to spend six seasons at the Parc des Princes. In the summer of 2023, Ney joined the list of stars who took their talents to the Middle East by signing for <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/al-hilal">Al-Hilal</a>.



That group includes <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/karim-benzema">Karim Benzema</a>, who left Real Madrid as a free agent to sign for Al-Ittihad <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/soccer/karim-benzemas-salary-at-al-ittihad-how-much-he-makes-per-hour-day-week-month-and-year-20230606-BUS-6714.html">at the beginning of the season</a>. <h2>Al-Ittihad already making plans for next season</h2>



With Benzema’s future at the club unclear and the team doing worse than predicted in the domestic league, Al-Ittihad’s intention of signing Salah may be part of a bigger plan to bounce back next year.

Right now, Gallardo’s team is fifth in the Saudi Pro League with 31 points, 22 shy of leaders Al-Hilal. While the local title race looks difficult, Al-Ittihad are still alive in the AFC Champions League, where they’ll play Navbahor Namangan in the round of 16.



Apart from Benzema, their squad already boasts big names such as N’Golo Kante, Fabinho, Luiz Felipe and Jota. Therefore, landing a player of Salah’s caliber could be an even bigger boost for the club.



The winger, who turns 32 in June, will be playing on an expiring contract next season. Liverpool are expected to try and tie him down to an extension, as Salah continues to play at a fantastic level. This season, he boasts an impressive 14 goals and eight assists in 20 Premier League games. But only time will tell if the player wants to extend his stay at Anfield.

After successful spells at Nacional of Uruguay and River Plate in Argentina, Marcelo Gallardo is now the coach of Al-Ittihad, after winning 14 titles and compiling a 251-85-111 record with River Plate. Gallardo won two Copa Libertadores, one of which was by defeating Boca Juniors, and was runner up at the Club World Cup in 2015.

I was the link between them in our attacking play and the firefighter in those moments.



“For many, that disagreement [against Burnley in August 2019] between Sadio and Mo was the first; for some, the first and last. But I knew it had been brewing since the previous season, 2018-19. My instinct and my duty was to defuse the situation between them. Pour water on the fire – never petrol.”

“They were never best friends; each kept himself to himself. It was rare to see the two of them talking and I’m not sure if that had to do with the Egypt-Senegal rivalry in African competitions. I truly don’t know. But they also never stopped talking, never severed ties. They always acted with the utmost professionalism.



“I never took sides. That’s why they love me: I always passed the ball to both; my preference was for the team’s victory. Many focus on what I brought to the attacking trio in tactical terms, but perhaps just as important was the human element: my role as peacemaker, unifier. If I didn’t do that, it would be nothing but storms between the two of them on the field. 



“Maybe that’s why I was the one most often substituted by Klopp. The three of us had very different personalities and the Boss knew I wouldn’t throw a bottle to the ground or anything like that. If I was bothered, I’d talk to him privately afterwards. When a substitution was needed, it was easier to take Bobby off than to upset either of the other two.

The Egyptian’s move to <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/saudi-pro-league" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Saudi Arabia</a> was reported as imminent but was rejected on Friday.



According to reports <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/liverpool" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Liverpool</a> were set for a $100 million transfer fee and Salah was offered a 5-year contract worth $127 million per year plus incentives and a reported stake in the Saudi club.

The deal with all the incentives and perks would have been worth more than Cristiano Ronaldo’s current deal, making Salah the highest paid soccer player in the world.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reported by The Sun as stating he had nothing more to add to the subject once the offer was rejected. Salah’s Liverpool contract runs until the end of next season when he will be a free agent.



Rumors are that the Saudi Pro League will try again to sign the striker, but it is also reported that Salah could favor a move to Major League Soccer when his Liverpool deal expires.
