<h2>Gasly’s thoughts on the car</h2>



After the Japanese Grand Prix, Gasly spoke with the media about the challenges the team faced in securing their first points. He and teammate Doohan both made attempts to break into the points, but several issues with the car hindered their efforts.

On the other hand, Doohan expressed his excitement about the upcoming race in Bahrain, where he’s eager to help the team secure its first points of the season. “I can’t wait for it. We just need to keep working together as a team, keep pushing, and get those points. That’s what’s important,” Doohan remarked.



<h2>Next stop for Verstappen: Bahrain</h2>



With his first victory of the season already in the books, Verstappen and his team are eager to race in Bahrain this weekend. For the Dutch driver, it will be a special moment as he has won the Bahrain Grand Prix twice before and could tie Fernando Alonso in the podium of the most wins at the circuit.

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto didn’t make the trip with Alpine to the Formula 1 Japanese Grand Prix as their reserve driver after last week fresh rumors about a potential move to Racing Bulls, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/red-bull-racing">Red Bull</a>’s secondary team sparked. But Colapinto has since made it clear where his priorities lie.



“I’m an Alpine driver. I have a contract with them. I’m working hard and hoping for an opportunity with this team. They went out of their way to bring me in. If the other guys weren’t paying attention, it’s too late now,” Colapinto said during a casual appearance on the Nude Project podcast. 



Colapinto, 21, had been in the spotlight during the offseason after missing out on a full-time Formula 1 seat with Williams. His name resurfaced recently as Red Bull evaluated options following Liam Lawson’s underwhelming performances alongside Max Verstappen in Australia and China. Still, Red Bull opted to keep Yuki Tsunoda in the main team, sending Lawson back to Racing Bulls. 



However, according to reports from PlanetF1.com, the rumors didn’t have any solid base. The outlet states that, despite rumors of potential talks, the team didn’t consider Colapinto seriously. In the end, it was Alpine that landed Colapinto, signing him as a reserve driver behind Pierre Gasly and Jack Doohan.

<h2>Colapinto’s move to Alpine</h2>



In January, Williams and Alpine announced a deal for Colapinto. The 21-year-old Argentinian shares Test and Reserve Driver duties with Paul Aron and Ryo Hirakawa, attending several races throughout the year. 



Williams Team Principal James Vowles stated that the team supported Colapinto’s move, believing Alpine offers him the best opportunity to secure a full-time seat in 2025 or 2026. Especially as the team’s 2025 lineup of Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz left limited room for advancement.



<h2>Colapinto was testing again in Monza</h2>



While he didn’t travel to Japan with the team, Colapinto got back behind the wheel during a private test session in Monza, Italy. A clip of the Argentine driving Alpine’s 2023 car quickly made the rounds on social media. 



The test came the same weekend Max Verstappen won yet another Grand Prix, while Alpine struggledm with Gasly finishing 13th and Doohan 15th. However, currently, Lando Norris is the driver who leads the standings, with Verstappen second after three races.

The 2025 Formula 1 season kicked off with a dramatic Australian Grand Prix, leaving plenty of uncertainty about what’s ahead. Despite <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/max-verstappen">Max Verstappen’</a>s second-place finish, for Red Bull, it was a difficult weekend, as both new signing Liam Lawson and Racing Bulls rookie Isack Hadjar crashed at Turn 2 in separate incidents on Sunday.



Lawson’s race ended on lap 47 when he lost control in the rain and hit the wall, capping off a tough weekend. He had already failed to complete Saturday’s qualifying and missed the final practice session due to reliability issues.



“It was a difficult weekend for him,” said <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/red-bull-racing">Red Bull Team</a> Principal Christian Horner, per F1’s official website. “We changed the car to put a bit more downforce on it. It’s a very hard track to overtake at. We took a risk of leaving him out longer… at exactly the point it started to rain more, so it’s difficult to blame him for that last bit.”



Despite the struggles, Horner pointed to a silver lining: “The one flash of light that he can take out of it is that on the dry tyres, he actually posted the second fastest lap time of the Grand Prix with a 22.9 versus Max’s 23.0 and Lando’s 22.1… So if there was one positive we can take, it was that his pace on the dry was not too bad.”

<h2>Hadjar’s emotional debut and Red Bull’s mixed response</h2>



Hadjar’s first F1 weekend had been promising up to his crash, as he narrowly missed out on the top 10 in qualifying, making him the fastest rookie over a single lap. He had also topped the rookie timesheets in two of the three practice sessions.



After his early exit, the 20-year-old was visibly emotional, walking through the paddock in tears before being consoled by Anthony Hamilton, father of Lewis. Horner, however, was more understanding. “It was quite heart-wrenching to see him so gutted,” he said. “You forget that these guys are just kids really, and obviously, there’s a lot of emotion for him. But when he strips it back, there’s an awful lot of positives that he can take out of the weekend. He’s got many bright days ahead of him.”

The battle for the final spot appears to be between Liam Lawson and Colapinto. Driving a Formula 1 car has been my dream since childhood, so I’m still enjoying it,” he said to the press in Sao Paulo.



Despite the gratitude, Colapinto was clear about his interest in the Red Bull’s offer. While admitting he doesn’t know about the rumors, he said: “If Williams can’t give me a seat, it would make sense for them to let me go elsewhere to have better options in the future.”



He added, “I’ve thought I wouldn’t be in Formula 1 in 2025, and I still think that, so I really don’t get excited about all the noise around it. But we’ll see. I don’t feel much pressure or anything like that; I’m just trying to enjoy the moment and the opportunity.”

Renowned Italian journalist Roberto Chinchero, reporting for Sky Sports, revealed that Colapinto has received an offer from the Milton Keynes-based team. The Argentine driver made a strong impression in his initial F1 races, quickly earning a reputation as a talent that cannot be overlooked.



“The offer is there. Milton Keynes (Red Bull) can give him a seat. But the ‘card’ is from Williams which has had him in its junior programme for two years and it is not certain that it is willing to sell him,” Chinchero explained during the official broadcast of the Mexican Grand Prix.

This report comes just days after journalist Joe Saward revealed that Colapinto is being considered for Red Bull’s junior team, VCARB, next year as a replacement for Liam Lawson, who would, in turn, replace Sergio Perez to drive alongside Max Verstappen.

<h2>Colapinto admits he isn’t thinking about his future</h2>



While speculation surrounding the Argentine’s future is growing every week, Colapinto has told the press that he isn’t particularly worried about it. “My job is to drive the car quick enough, to turn the wheel,” he said to Sky Sports.



“I am not really into it. My managers do an amazing job and I trust them,” he explained. “They are doing a great job. I am not focused on what is happening, I don’t want to put energy into it.”



“I know there are no seats left, no space for me to go,” he admitted. However, he remains focused on his main goal: “I am trying to show that I deserve a place in Formula 1, that I came to stay. I hope to leave that impression. I am sure that in the future—2026 or 2027—I will be back,” he said.
