The Chicago Sky are facing the Washington Mystics tonight at CareFirst Arena in a key game for their playoff hopes. This will be their third matchup of the season, with Washington winning the two previous encounters. As forward Angel Reese comes back from injury, all the attention is on her.

Reese missed the team’s last two games, but she appears to be in line for a return against the Mystics. The All-Star forward, who suffered a back injury, is officially listed as probable for tonight’s contest.

But Reese is not the only player in doubt. Michaela Onyenwere (knee) and Hailey Van Lith (ankle) are listed as questionable. Meanwhile, guard Ariel Atkins (leg) is officially ruled out for the match.

If Reese can play, that would be a major boost for the Sky, who are coming from a five-game losing streak. Reese is averaging 13.8 points and 12.5 rebounds per game in the 2025 season.

Over her past 10 games, she’s reached at least 25 points and rebounds in nine of them, posting averages of 17.4 points and 14.5 rebounds. However, she is also a technical foul away from a one-game suspension.

Reese leads the WNBA with seven technicals. One more, and she’ll receive an automatic one-game suspension. However, head coach Tyler Marsh says that Reese is “aware” of the risk. ‘‘We’re not worried about it,” he explained, according to the Chicago Sun Time.

Sky’s playoff hopes

Chicago’s rough start to the season (3-10) hasn’t sealed its fate in 2025—at least not yet. But a 4-8 stretch since June 22 hasn’t helped its playoff chances. After Tuesday night, the Sky face five straight opponents currently ahead of them in the standings, including rematches with both the Mystics and Indiana Fever.
