With the 2025 season approaching, several <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/wnba">WNBA</a> teams will start new processes with new head coaches, including the Chicago Sky. The former Las Vegas Aces assistant coach will now have the task of bringing the best from Angel Reese and company, and he already has shared his thoughts on the forward’s rookie season, saying people ‘undervalue’ her.



“I think she handled her rookie year great,” Marsh said in a conversation with the ‘No Cap Space WBB’ podcast. “I mean, you set a record in rebounding and, to me, it’s still amazing that people kind of undervalue and undersell just what that was for a rookie.”



“I think it’s kind of unfair, not just to Angel but a lot of the rookies in the W, they’re expected to do so much in so little time. They’re not given the grace to grow,” the new <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chicago-sky">Chicago Sky</a> head coach continued. “We can’t take for granted just what Angel was able to do in her rookie year. And… she’s a winner.”



He added, “She’s doubted almost every year of her life and her career, and she continued to overcome, and that’s something you can build on. She hasn’t even scratched the surface yet of what I believe her potential could be.”

<h2>Reese was one of the contenders for the Rookie of the Year Award</h2>



The 22-year-old’s rookie season was inspired, breaking several league’s records such as for the most consecutive double-doubles in a season with 15, most double-doubles by a rookie with 26, and set the WNBA record for the most single-season rebounds with 446 (later broken by A’ja Wilson).

On her podcast, Reese holds conversations with different personalities from both the sports world and entertainment. Among her guests, there are names such as Shaquille O’Neal, who also produces the podcast, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/wnba">WNBA</a> legend Sheryl Swoopes, Zendaya’s stylist Law Roach and more.



What’s even more impressive is that the show has achieved this success with only 13 episodes so far. On YouTube, the show has 103K subscribers, and her most-watched video is her conversation with singers Latto and Mariah The Scientist.

However, the Sky took a different approach to announcing their games, joining one of TikTok’s most popular trends.



In a video posted to X on Monday, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chicago-sky">Sky</a> used the “suspect” trend to not only unveiled their full regular schedule, but to also take playful shots at their opponents. For example, they mocked (in good spirit) the Fever, with “suspect’s fans are always @-ing us in the comments.”

In a post on X, she wrote: “proud of our PR team. we ate that up.” However, the Sky weren’t the only team to have fun with the announcement, as the Las Vegas Aces and New York Liberty also shared some memes with the schedule.



This will be the third time in a row that the Sky begin their regular season on the road. They will be visiting Gainbridge Fieldhouse to face off the Fever on Saturday, May 17. Meanwhile, their home opener at Wintrust Arena will be the second game of the season on Thursday, May 22 against New York.

This is the first time since 2018 that the Sky and Fever have a season-opener matchup against one another. The Sky are 7-8 in road openers all time, having won their last three out of their last four road openers. On the other hand, Indiana is the only team Chicago plays five times this season.

This season, all WNBA teams will play a 44-game schedule, an increase from 40 games in 2024. The Fever will embark on an East Coast road trip, facing the Connecticut Sun on July 15th and the New York Liberty on the 16th. They will then host All-Star Weekend from July 17th to 19th. The WNBA is capitalizing on its surging popularity by moving select games to larger arenas and even different cities. The Connecticut Sun will once again host a game at TD Garden in Boston on July 15th, where they set a franchise attendance record of 19,156 last year.

The Washington Mystics broke the WNBA attendance record with a crowd of 20,711 at Capital One Arena for their regular-season finale. The Las Vegas Aces, who have sold out their season tickets for two consecutive years, will host their final three home games at T-Mobile Arena on the Las Vegas Strip to accommodate the increased demand.



<h2>Other important dates: Draft and WNBA All-Star game </h2>



The Golden State Valkyries, the WNBA’s newest team, will select their inaugural roster in the expansion draft on Friday, January 11th, airing on ESPN at 6:30 PM ET. The Valkyries will have the fifth overall pick in the 2025 draft. Free agency will also play a significant role in shaping rosters for the upcoming season. Teams can begin negotiating with free agents on January 21st and officially sign players on February 1st.



The WNBA All-Star Game will make its debut in Indianapolis at Gainbridge Fieldhouse on July 19th, hosted by the Indiana Fever. The All-Star break will run from July 17th to 21st.

At the time, Ball posted on X (formerly Twitter) that he was going to pay the bill for the fine. “Ref that threw out @Reese10Angel is weak btw… You know who you are (Keep ya money Angel I got you),” he wrote.



On the podcast, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/angel-reese">Reese</a> revealed that Ball was a man of his word, and he actually gave her $2,000 when the fine was only $200. Reese will play in the Rose Basketball Club, which also includes Las Vegas Aces point guard Chelsea Gray, Phoenix Mercury guard Kahleah Copper, Washington Mystics guard Brittney Sykes and Los Angeles Sparks forward Azura Stevens.



The league, which offers some of the biggest salaries for the WNBA stars, is set to tip off on January 17th in Miami, with training camp beginning on January 2nd. Games will be televised on TNT and streamed on Max.

“They’re young stars who have so much ahead of them, and being able to help them try to reach their potential is something that certainly appealed to me. When asked specifically for <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/angel-reese">Reese</a> and how he will help her expand her game, he said: “Angel has already showed some areas where she’s super efficient in,” but he’s looking to “expand on those” and help her be “multidimensional,” so she can help the team scoring, facilitating or defending.



“And the same with Kamilla,” he added. “We want both of them to be integral parts of who we are and what we do, and we don’t want them to just be one dimensional as far as their game goes. We want them to expand their games as much as possible, and open up the floor and create space for everyone else as well.”

If we turn it over, we want to be selfless turnovers, not selfish turnovers,” he explained. “We want to attack the paint and be creative doing so. We want to create for each other and we want to keep playing. We want to be a team that can play through flow.”

Tyler Marsh, the newly appointed head coach of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chicago-sky">Chicago Sky</a>, wasted no time in outlining his priorities for the offseason, which include working closely with Angel Reese and the rest of the team in one key aspect: shooting.



“Lots of it. I told Rachel (Banham) and Michaela (Onyenwere) in our first conversations, ‘when we have it, I want you to feel the confidence of letting it ride.’ And that goes for everyone. Because we’re going to get you shooting some threes, too,” he said looking at Elizabeth Williams, prompting the laughs of the press.



The response wasn’t surprising as the Sky struggled with shooting throughout last season. The team made the fewest three-pointers in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/wnba">WNBA</a>. They only made 4.8 three-pointers per game, while the next worst team (the Connecticut Sun) made 5.9.



He continued, “We got some pieces that we’re going to add, and continue to build around the core that we already intact, moving forward. And so, I’m looking forward to that.” So, it seems like the plan it’s clear for the new coach who is, precisely, known for helping players improve their shooting skills.

Chicago Sky star <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/angel-reese">Angel Reese</a> has announced that her wrist recovery is progressing smoothly on her social media. The forward, who has been seen at the NFL this season, said that she is now free of her hand brace, one month after getting surgery.



“My hand brace is finally off,” Reese shared on social media, adding humorously, “The hiding-my-brace-with-my-bags era is OFFICIALLY OVER.” She referred to her efforts to hide the brace for the photos, which became a talking point between her and her fans.



Reese was sidelined for the last six games of the 2024 season after fracturing her left wrist, an injury that required surgery on September 10. The <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/chicago-sky">Chicago Sky</a> forward had previously said that she would be in a hard cast for four weeks, followed by a soft cast for two weeks.



With this new progress, Reese could resume basketball activities before the end of October. In a TikTok video posted last month, the athlete said that during her rehab period she would concentrate on maintaining her physical condition, with mostly running and doing specific exercises.

“We’re just warming up. I know how to get the ball to Kamilla better than anyone else. I just know where she likes it. Just being able to build her confidence and being able to continue that, hopefully we can stay together for a really long time. But I know moving forward and going into the next season, it’s going to be crazy,” she revealed in her podcast Unapologetic Angel.

NBA legend Dwyane Wade defended Chicago Sky rookie <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/angel-reese">Angel Reese</a> from the criticism regarding her scoring skills while appearing on the fifth episode of her podcast “Unapologetically Angel,” which was released on Thursday, Oct. 3rd.



“You’re someone who gets your work done early.” Wade said about the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/wnba">WNBA</a> star rebounding abilities. “They don’t even have time to figure out what you’re doing and why you’re getting so many rebounds. When I came to Chicago I just sat there watching. I was like, ‘oh that’s why she is so dominant at this.’“



“When a player comes in from college or anywhere you want them to at least have a strength in something,” he continued. “Yours happens to be so strong, it allows people to start commenting on things you can’t do… That’s the world that we all live in.
