The 2025 college basketball season can’t start soon enough for the BYU Cougars. There’s a lot of excitement about AJ Dybantsa, one of the highest-ranked prospects in the nation, joining the program.

Now, it seems like he won’t be alone. The Cougars also landed a star point guard in Robert Wright III, who will transfer there after averaging 11.5 points, 4.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game last season.

Hopefully, they can do what Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper couldn’t do with Rutgers this season, and, judging by Dybantsa’s words, he’s looking forward to playing with his new playmaker.

Pure point guard. I mean, we played with each other one time at like SLAM, but it’s going to be live—pure point guard,” Dybantsa said. “He’s a winner. He can get a bucket when he needs to. So it’s a great pickup for us.”

BYU isn’t necessarily known for being a powerhouse or landing the best prospects in college basketball, and they deserve a lot of credit for the turnaround they’re slowly orchestrating.

Hopefully, they will fare much better than Rutgers did last season, and their new one-two punch will live up to the hype and lead them to a deep run in the NCAA Tournament.
