The College Basketball season hasn’t even started yet, but it seems like Kansas Jayhawks coach Bill Self is more than ready to watch his players take the court right now.
All eyes will be set on potential first-overall pick Darryn Peterson. Even so, Coach Self is also quite excited about freshman shooting guard Kohl Rosario, who’s expected to have a big role right out of the gate.
When asked about the newcomer, Self went as far as to compare him to Denver Nuggets guard Christian Braun, adding that Rosario was actually a better shooter. He should know, since he coached Braun as well.
Bill Self compares Kohl Rosario to Christian Braun
“Kohl is a CB that shoots it better … But he’s not as big and not as powerful yet,” Self said, per Sportskeeda. “Kohl is an athlete … he’s a real athlete. He’s an unbelievable offensive rebounder … he tries really hard. He’s active … he’ll steal your possessions.”
Of course, these comments sparked mixed reviews all over social media, with some agreeing and others thinking that Self was reaching a little with his assessment.
Rosario looked solid in the AAU circuit, especially from beyond the arc, and he’s much more athletic than you’d see at first glance. Even so, he still needs to earn his stripes, just like everybody else.
