As it happens every single year, the transfer portal has created a frenzy in the college basketball scene. Of course, some teams were hit by it with more force than others.
Notably, that’s why the Memphis Tigers don’t want to rest on their laurels. They just lost star guard PJ Haggerty, who entered the transfer portal last week and averaged the third-most PPG in the nation (21.7).
According to a report by college basketball insider Jon Rothstein, coach Penny Hardaway has already set his sights on Kansas State guard Dug McDaniel as a potential replacement.
Memphis will target Dug McDaniel
“Kansas State transfer Dug McDaniel tells me that he will visit Memphis today,” Rothstein wrote on X.
McDaniel still has one year left of college eligibility after spending two seasons with the Michigan Wolverines and the last one at K-State, and he entered the transfer portal on Monday.
He’s coming off averaging 11.4 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game on 37% from the floor, which was a significant step back after blazing with 16.3 points on 41% shooting in his sophomore season at Michigan.
