Francisco Lindor silences doubters with strong performance for the New York Mets

In baseball, as in life, sometimes all you need is a little time to show what you’re really made of. That’s exactly what Francisco Lindor is doing. After a sluggish start to the season, the New York Mets shortstop is proving his doubters wrong with a string of strong performances.

Lindor didn’t hit his first home run of the 2024 MLB regular season until his 11th game. But since then, he’s gone yard five times, including a breakout performance on Monday that marked his best outing of the year.

Facing the Philadelphia Phillies in a tight matchup, Lindor belted two home runs to help lift the Mets to a 5–4 victory. It was a much-needed spark for the team and a clear reminder of what the veteran slugger can bring to the table. His teammates took notice, and Lindor didn’t shy away from the spotlight afterward.

“The crowd has helped a lot,” Lindor told reporters. “This is home, and what’s next is to stay the course, primarily, and the results will come.” With the Citi Field faithful behind him, Lindor is showing that his perseverance, paired with fan support, could be just what he needs to deliver a big season in Queens.

Lindor opens up about what he misses most off the field

“There wasn’t a different feeling when I hit those homers. It’s just a different moment and scenario—I enjoy every home run I hit, just cherish the moment and live for it. I loved it, and when it happened, it happened. But I need my wife and my kids to be here. I miss them so much. If they were here, it would probably be different,” Lindor said, smiling.

Lindor praises Mets teammates and organization

When asked about his mindset and team dynamic, Lindor emphasized the importance of surrounding yourself with good people. That’s exactly what he feels he has in New York, both in the clubhouse and throughout the organization.

“It’s a great organization with a fantastic group of guys. The front office is amazing, and everybody wants to be here,” Lindor said. “I’m super proud to be a New York Met, for sure.”
