It goes without saying that Clayton Kershaw is one of the greatest players to ever get on the mound. He’s dominated his rivals at an almost unprecedented rate and has become a living institution within the Los Angeles Dodgersorganization. That’s why it was so relieving to finally see him fulfill his dream of winning a World Series after several postseason meltdowns. Other than that, you can argue that he’s had a perfect career as no many other pitchers could brag about.

But all good things come to an end and Kershaw’s career isn’t the exception to that rule. The veteran has been around Major League Baseball for 14 years and his deal is set to run out at the end of the season.

And for the first time in his career, it seems like Kershaw has finally come full circle. He’s calmed, relaxed, and focusing on other aspects of his life after winning the ultimate prize, so baseball may no longer be his priority.

Clayton Kershaw Is Unsure About His Future In Baseball

That’s why, in a recent interview with Jorge Castillo of the Los Angeles Times, he admitted that he doesn’t have an answer right now about whether he wants to keep on playing beyond this season or not:

“I don’t know. Honestly, I wish I had an answer,” Kershaw started. “I wasn’t as enthused to get back going again [in ’21], which is a good thing. It’s a great problem to have. I think every offseason in the past it’s been, ‘I just want to get this done. I just want to do it, do it, do it.’ And there’s this passion and it just constantly builds and builds and builds. And now the pressure is just because we have a great team and we’re supposed to win. That’s awesome,” he concluded.

We always hate to see great players call it a day but it’s not like Kershaw hasn’t done enough already. He’s a 3-time Cy Young award winner, Triple-Crown winner, MVP, Gold Glove winner, 3-time NL wins leader, 5-times NL ERA leader, 3-times NL strikeout leader, threw a no-hitter, and is finally a World Series champion as well.
