Stephen Curry has been nothing short of sensational in the current NBA season. Curry has been averaging 30 points per game, 5.5 rebounds, and 6 assists, all while the Golden State Warriors have been a mixed bag of inconsistency with a 14-12 record and sitting in eighth place in the Western Conference. Curry’s coach Steve Kerr is all in on those talks also based on Curry’s current form, while Curry himself has downplayed the MVP talks telling ESPN reporters, “I really try not to get distracted by that [MVP hype] because it kind of taints the moment. And really right now, if I’m doing my job, then I’ll be there at the end of the season, and that will take care of itself.”
Curry is a two-time NBA MVP, having won the award in 2015 and 2016 seasons, in 2016 Curry finished the year averaging 30 points per game. Despite an injury plagued 2020, Curry has come back strong and while the Warriors have yet to find their consistency, Curry has been in MVP form all year long.
On Thursday, Curry scored 40 points against the Orlando Magic, and it also marked the seventeenth time Curry hit at least ten threes in one game. There is no question that Stephen Curry has been on fire this season, now is it MVP potential? It sure looks like it.

Warriors teammate Andrew Wiggins was full of praise for the franchise player, “The stuff he does even with two, three defenders on him, how he still gets his shot up and makes it.” “The space he creates, it doesn’t matter who’s guarding him… He’s on his own level right now.” Wiggins said.
Curry told ESPN that this is one of the best moments of his career although he does not like to make comparisons, “I don’t compare it to really anything in terms of what has happened in the past. … I’ve been saying it for a while, I feel confident and strong and in rhythm, and it’s a good feeling and I want to keep getting better. That’s the goal.”
