Stephen Curry is undeniably the greatest player in Golden State Warriors history. Over his 16 seasons with the franchise, he has led the Warriors to four NBA championships (2015, 2017, 2018, and 2022), cementing his place as one of the league’s all-time greats. His impact stretches far beyond the Bay Area, influencing basketball’s evolution and captivating fans worldwide.
Now 36 years old, Curry continues to shine as a cornerstone of the Warriors’ roster. His brilliance was on full display during a 121-115 victory over the Orlando Magic, where the two-time league MVP erupted for 56 points, tying former teammate Klay Thompson’s record as the only NBA players to make 12 or more three-pointers in three separate games.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Curry reflected on his legacy and how he hopes to be remembered. “Just somebody people felt inspired by when they watched,” Curry shared. “You create a life of memories not only for myself, but I know for fans who have watched your whole career“.
“No matter if you’ve been watching since ’09 or before that or recently, just somebody that brings joy to the game,” he continued. “[Someone who] is inspiring, not only to play basketball but to find your best self in whatever you decide to do. We talked about having joy and just having a smile on my face because I’m blessed”.
Jimmy Butler praises Curry’s performance vs. the Magic
The Warriors acquired Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat this offseason in hopes of bolstering their title chances alongside Curry. Following Curry’s electrifying performance, Butler emphasized the positive impact such moments have on the team.
“It’s a big energy boost for everybody in this locker room. It makes everyone want to be great, especially on the defensive side of the floor,” Butler said postgame. “So we can get the ball back and watch him go do something incredible on the offensive side”.
Steve Kerr reflects on Stephen Curry’s impact
Warriors head coach Steve Kerr didn’t hold back when praising Stephen Curry’s remarkable performance, calling him the greatest shooter in NBA history and one of the game’s all-time greats. “I think the fans here tonight, even the Magic fans, know they’re witnessing the greatest shooter ever, and one of the greatest performers ever,” Kerr said in his postgame press conference.
“He’s an incredible performer, and he put on quite a show tonight,” he added. “It’s not just the shots going in, it’s the fluidity, the beauty of his movement and motion, and his audacity, the shots that he’s willing to take”.
