Houston Texans owner Cal McNair has spoken out about all the rumors surrounding Deshaun Watson and his reported trade request from his team. The talented quarterback has been with the franchise since 2015 and they’re not playing to part ways with him in the near future.

Everybody around the NFL has said something about it, including players from other teams, insiders and executives. Some have identified the most likely landing spots for the 25-year-old but now things could be different after McNair’s words.

Newly signed GM revealed that they didn’t have any intention of sending Watson somewhere else and now McNair has doubled down on those comments, stating the team is ready to have their quarterback back next season.

Cal McNair says Deshaun Watson isn’t leaving the Texans

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport had a little talk with McNair and of course, the Deshaun Watson drama was brought up. The player just signed a contract extension last year and the owner expects him to honor that deal.

“Really, the situations have nothing to do with each other except for the fact that they are on the same Houston Texans team,” Rapoport said on NFL Network’s NFL NOW. “I did talk to Cal McNair, as I mentioned earlier, of course, I asked him about Deshaun Watson. He said, ‘that’s a different issue. That is not our focus.’ But McNair did add there’s a lot of misinformation out there. He said, ‘I’ll leave it at that. Deshaun is a member of the Texans. We expect him to remain him a member of the Texans, and we look forward to having him back.’ As you guys know, several teams have called the Texans. They have not gotten a response from Nick Caserio. Deshaun Watson remains dug in, so now we are basically where we’ve been.”

Watson has been linked with the New York Jets, Denver Broncos, and more but nothing is certain now. The player removed the name of the Texans from all his social media and everybody is waiting to see what he’s going to do next after requesting a trade.

After a terrific individual season, the quarterback doesn’t feel he is where he wants to be at this point in his career and the Texans will need to find a solution to this because Watson is ready to make drastic decisions to get out of the NRG Stadium.
