The NFL continues to establish itself as one of the most lucrative sports leagues in the world, and today the results of Sportico’s annual franchise valuation rankings were released. This list is led by the Dallas Cowboys, owned by Jerry Jones.

The rankings not only represent the economic performance of the teams but also the ability to generate revenue through merchandising, television contracts, and sponsorships, solidifying the NFL as one of the most powerful leagues in professional sports.

In that regard, Jones’s Cowboys, despite not having recent success in reaching the playoffs in the last NFL seasons, remain one of the most influential franchises. They even boast having the highest-paid quarterback in the league, Dak Prescott.

The Cowboys are the most valuable NFL franchise

The Cowboys are estimated to be worth $12.8 billion, reaffirming their position as the most valuable franchise in the NFL. They are followed by the Los Angeles Rams at $10.43 billion and the New York Giants at $10.25 billion, highlighting the importance of large markets and the business management of these organizations.

Dak Prescott #4 of the Dallas Cowboys warms up before their game against the New England Patriots at Gillette Stadium on October 17, 2021 in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Rounding out the top five are the New England Patriots, valued at $8.76 billion, and the San Francisco 49ers, at $8.6 billion. This ranking reflects how sporting success, fan loyalty, and business strategy directly influence franchise value.

Cowboys’ expectations

The Cowboys’ position as the most valuable NFL franchise comes as no surprise, but it sets high expectations for what is anticipated from Dallas in the 2025 NFL season. The combination of history, commercial success, and a massive fan base has turned the franchise into an economic and cultural benchmark within American football.
