One year after he starred in one of the most controversial moments in the NFL in recent years, Myles Garrett is ready to see Mason Rudolph once again. The Cleveland Browns star appears to get over the incident he started last year with the Pittsburgh Steelers backup quarterback and is ready to try to hit Ben Roethlisberger, hopefully without using his own helmet.
In case you don’t know or don’t remember, Garrett got himself involved in a fight with backup quarterback Mason Rudolph, taking off his own helmet and hitting Rudolph with it in the head. Back in the day, Garret earned a lot of criticism for his behavior and some fans haven’t forgotten that yet.
The player doesn’t seem to be worried about it, as he recently stated he’s going to keep it cool and focus on his game and nothing else. The Steelers will try to get under his skin but Garrett isn’t bothered by that.
Garrett doesn’t know whether or not he’ll approach Mason Rudolph after Sunday’s game
The 24-year-old hasn’t figured it out if he’ll greet Rudolph this Sunday, as he’s only focused on the game right now.
“I haven’t thought about it,” Garrett said Friday on a video conference about facing the Steelers for the first time since that night. “Focusing on how I’m going to get to Ben [Roethlisberger]. I’ll cross that bridge when I come to it, whether that’s down the road or whenever we see each other. I’m just focused on the gameplan and getting the win. That comes secondary.”
Last month, Garrett said he’d like to make peace with Rudolph when he had the chance, despite the Steelers’ player using the N-word towards him during that game, which sparked Myles’ furious reaction.
“It’d be like other instances where people agree to disagree,” Garrett said last month. “Just what I heard, just what you said you said and that’s what it is. If you say you didn’t say that, that’s okay, but that’s what I heard. It is what it is at the end of the day. We’re men and it shouldn’t be one situation that keeps you from respecting each other because you can’t look past that.”
We have to wait until the day comes to see what is going to happen with these two players. The only certain thing now is that is going to be awkward when they first see each other after that incident.
