Joe Burrow emerged as the leading voice for the Cincinnati Bengals, who will once again have to travel to Baltimore for a primetime matchup—something that didn’t sit well with the franchise.
“Maybe we can get one of those in Cincinnati. Please,” the talented quarterback had said regarding the situation, echoing the sentiment felt by many within the franchise. The league’s response to the matter didn’t take long to arrive.
Weighing in on the debate was none other than NFL Vice President of Broadcast Planning & Scheduling, Mike North, who told the media that the complaints were fair—but also encouraged the Bengals to look on the bright side: the opportunity to ruin Thanksgiving for a fierce AFC North rival like the Ravens.
“It’s fair,” North told Geoff Hobson of the team’s official website. “It’s not a one-or-two years sort of a league where you fix every problem every other year or every two years. Once you start getting to the same thing three years in a row, four, or five years in a row, whether it’s a short week Thursday on the road or opening on the road.”
“I’m sure Bengals fans would have preferred it in Cincinnati, but it should be fun for you guys to ruin Baltimore’s Thanksgiving,” he also added.
When and where will the Bengals and Ravens face off this season?
The first meeting between these two AFC North contenders will take place on Thursday, November 27, during Week 13 of the season—right on Thanksgiving. The game will be held at the home of the Ravens, M&T Bank Stadium.
Should there be a loser in that first matchup, they won’t have to wait long for a rematch. Just two weeks later, the Bengals will host the second divisional clash between the two teams at Paycor Stadium on Sunday, December 14, in a Week 15 showdown.
A tough start to the season for Cincinnati
Joe Burrow and his Bengals will try by all means to return to the NFL spotlight, but to do so, they’ll first have to overcome these early-season challenges—something that will be far from easy.
