Mason Rudolph is fully aware that the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to sign a quarterback in the coming weeks, and clearly, the name that is being mentioned the most is Aaron Rodgers. It all happened during an exclusive interview with Missi Matthews.
“I know the Steelers traditionally go to training camp with four quarterbacks. I know they’re going to add somebody. It’s just a question of who it will be. I can’t control that. I shrug those questions off pretty easily. This is the NFL and I’m very used to, you know, all the controversy that the quarterback position brings. It’s normal. It’s expected. What I can control is how I’m going to work and lead the offense. Take advantage of every rep I get this spring.”
Several weeks ago, general manager Omar Khan confirmed that the Steelers would stick to their policy of having four quarterbacks signed heading into training camp, with at least two of them being NFL veterans. At the moment, only one spot remains available.
Who will be the next Steelers starting quarterback?
Mason Rudolph is currently the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, that would obviously change if Aaron Rodgers signs with the team in the coming weeks. That would complete the four quarterback spots.
Skylar Thompson and rookie Will Howard are the other players in the quarterback room competing for the QB2 spot. If Rodgers turns down Pittsburgh’s offer, Kirk Cousins or Carson Wentz could be options to fill that second veteran spot at the position alongside Rudolph.
