Mike Tomlin expressed satisfaction with the effort shown by Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers after a hard-fought victory against the New York Jets. The veteran quarterback had a sensational debut with four touchdowns, and the head coach took the opportunity to remind everyone that he had already warned about the offense’s potential based on what he saw in training camp.
“I just thought he was game all day. You guys asked me last week: ‘Why was I confident?’ That’s why I was confident. That’s what I’ve been looking at in preparation and I’m appreciative of it. Not only his efforts, but the efforts of the collective.”
However, doubts now lie with the defense. One of the top-paid units in the NFL, and the supposed key factor for chasing a Super Bowl, struggled again, especially against the run. This is something that could derail the team’s championship hopes, as it happened last season in the playoffs against the Ravens.
How many touchdowns does Aaron Rodgers have?
Aaron Rodgers has 507 career touchdowns and is just one away from tying Brett Favre for fourth place of all time. The list is led by Tom Brady (649), Drew Brees (571), and Peyton Manning (539).
At the end of the game, Mike Tomlin was asked if the victory was more special for Rodgers because he faced his former team. “He doesn’t care. He’s been doing this for too long. It was Week 1. There was a lot to be excited about. We got the victory. It’s on to the next one. I’m excited about the new Steelers, whether they’re new to the league or new to us. We got a lot of plays from a lot of new Steelers today. They’re earning their place in Steelers lore with their efforts. A lot of guys etched their names into that legacy.”
