Aaron Rodgers’ arrival to the Pittsburgh Steelers was one of the most talked-about moves of the 2025 offseason. After a long search, Mike Tomlin‘s team finally found a top-tier quarterback for the 2025 NFL season.

Following his unfortunate Achilles tendon injury in his debut with the New York Jets in 2023, and a 2024 season marked by his absence and eventual departure, Rodgers found a new opportunity in Pittsburgh, aiming to compete for the starting job.

While the Steelers signed Rodgers hoping that his experience, accuracy, and leadership can be the missing piece to seriously contend for a championship again, Mason Rudolph and Will Howard are also looking for a chance to prove they can contribute to the Steelers’ offense. On that note, Tomlin sent a clear message.

Tomlin’s message about Rodgers

“I mean, read his resume. We’re excited about him being here, he’s excited about being here. But we’ll make no bold predictions; We’re just going to roll our sleeves up and go to work and let our efforts do the talking,” Tomlin said about Rodgers at a press conference.

Mike Tomlin, the head coach of the Steelers

It’s clear that Tomlin holds Rodgers in high regard. Reading between the lines, it appears A-Rod will be the Steelers’ QB1 for the upcoming season. “We’ve both been in our roles a long time. So, it’s personal comfort and security in that. We can relate on that level,” Tomlin added.

Rodgers is already training with the Steelers

Pittsburgh isn’t wasting time and wants to make sure Rodgers reaches peak form through training. Still, A-Rod has been doing individual drills per Tomlin’s orders. At the same time, the Steelers’ head coach wants the team to continue working closely with Howard.
