Matthew Stafford is excited about the upcoming 2025 NFL season for the Los Angeles Rams. After a previous campaign filled with ups and downs, the NFC West franchise will look to rely on its offensive firepower to improve its numbers in the coming season. In that context, the addition of Davante Adams is expected to bring a boost of quality to the offense.
In March, the Rams announced the addition of star receiver Adams on a two-year, $46 million deal, with $26 million guaranteed. The veteran wide receiver arrives in Los Angeles after playing alongside Aaron Rodgers with the New York Jets.
Adams’ arrival comes after the departure of Cooper Kupp, who signed with the Seattle Seahawks. Stafford acknowledged that while it’s tough to see a teammate he shared success with move on, he’s excited about the new dynamic Adams will bring to the team.
Stafford’s bold statement about Davante Adams
“Adams fits right in. He’s no different, and we’re definitely excited to have him and I know for me as a quarterback I feel lucky for all the guys I’ve been able to throw to, and he’s definitely up there,” Stafford said in an interview with NFL Network.
Adams returns to his home state
Adams signing with the Rams marks a return to his home state of California, which played a key role in his decision. From the moment he decided to leave the Jets—something that was expected after Rodgers’ departure—the 32-year-old wide receiver knew his destination was the West Coast.
Stafford also spoke about Cooper Kupp’s departure
The Rams quarterback shared his thoughts on the departure of Kupp, who had been his teammate for several seasons and with whom he won Super Bowl LVI. “It’s tough when you’ve played with a guy and had as much success as we’ve had together and then move on,” Stafford said.
