Aaron Rodgers had no influence on the Pittsburgh Steelers regarding Shedeur Sanders not being selected in the first round of the 2025 Draft. That was the clear message from the team’s owner, Art Rooney II, during an interview with Steelers Nation Radio.

“No. We really did not factor whether Aaron’s coming or not into that. I mean, look, if we draft a quarterback, and we still might, it’s probably not somebody that’s gonna start for us this year. It’s gonna be somebody that we’ll be developing and may play down the road. So, it’s not like it, as far as I’m concerned, not like somebody that’s going to have a big impact on this season if we draft a quarterback.”

Rooney’s stance seems to strengthen the theory that Rodgers would sign with the Steelers, aiming to win another Super Bowl to finish his career. However, nothing is official yet.

Who will be Steelers’ starting quarterback?

Aaron Rodgers is the starting quarterback chosen by the Pittsburgh Steelers, but the team is waiting for what the player decides, considering the star revealed that he has personal issues within his inner circle.

In case Rodgers rejects them, Mason Rudolph would be the alternative plan. Additionally, considering that Khan promised four quarterbacks on the roster, this would activate the possibility of seeking a trade for Kirk Cousins.

In this situation with a lack of quarterbacks, Rooney is surprised by the reaction of many fans after not selecting Sanders. “You know, it’s amazing. The thing that’s really amazing, there’s some people that take it personally. Like, they’re mad that we didn’t take him who were on TV.”
