NY Giants haven’t yet seen the best of Cam Skattebo in the NFL

The New York Giants’ projected defense for the 2026 NFL season looks promising. However, the offensive side of the G-Men is also quite intimidating, as Cam Skattebo will be able to return from injury and has yet to show his full potential.

I’ve proved nothing at this level. So, now, where I’m at, I have to prove myself. If that’s for 5 years, or if that’s for 10 years, I’m gonna continue to prove myself. The best do it for the longest,” he said via @Giants.

Week 8 of his rookie season marked the end of Skattebo’s dream in 2025 with Giants. A very serious injury forced him to miss the rest of the season, and now he’s determined to come back stronger in what lies ahead.

Skattebo’s devastating injury

Cam Skattebo suffered a severe season-ending injury on October 26, 2025, during a matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. The standout running back sustained a dislocated right ankle and a fractured fibula following a heavy hit in the second quarter.

After undergoing successful surgery and a grueling rehabilitation process throughout the winter, Skattebo has made significant progress. He is currently on track to be fully cleared for the 2026 training camp, with team medical staff expecting him to be at 100% for the NFL season opener.

His promising numbers with Giants before the injury

Prior to his season-ending injury, the dynamic RB posted a solid production line across seven games, turning 101 carries into 410 rushing yards. Maintaining a steady 4.1 average per attempt, he proved to be a reliable scoring threat by finding the end zone 5 times. These statistics highlight a promising start that established him as a key focal point of the offense before his campaign was cut short.

The intriguing Giants backfield

Jaxson Dart will be well supported by his ground game in East Rutherford starting in Week 1. The excitement surrounding Skattebo’s return—projected as RB1 for John Harbaugh—adds to other big names on the depth chart.

Tyrone Tracy Jr., Devin Singletary, Eric Gray, and Dante Miller are the other rushing options for the quarterback, who is also very well supported through the air. Undoubtedly, the Giants have built their roster in the best possible way for 2026.
