The Las Vegas Raiders are set to make an statement for the upcoming NFL season, and with Pete Carroll taking over as the new head coach, they aim to build a competitive roster suited to the circumstances. Regarding this restructuring, the future of one of the defensive players who was with the team until the last campaign has finally been revealed.
Jack Jones, the young cornerback who joined Las Vegas in 2023 from the New England Patriots, has finally been cut by Pete Carroll’s team after failing to secure a trade during this offseason.
The news was revealed by NFL insider Ian Rapoport, who, through his official X (formerly Twitter) account, reported the departure of the former Arizona State player, whose future in the league remains uncertain.
“The #Raiders are releasing CB Jack Jones, sources say, after Las Vegas attempted to trade him. An intriguing option for a CB-needy team,” the insider reported via @Rapsheet.
Jones was a trusted asset in Antonio Pierce’s system, where he recorded five interceptions, three returned for touchdowns, along with 20 passes defensed and 94 tackles. With Carroll now leading the team, the cornerback is not part of the plans, so he will look for new opportunities moving forward.
Mason Graham, on the Raiders’ radar
Michigan Wolverines DT Mason Graham is one of the most sought-after players in the upcoming NFL Draft. The Raiders are planning a meeting in the coming days, making a potential pick seem likely.
According to NFL insider Adam Schefter, via his official X (formerly Twitter) account, Pete Carroll and Tom Brady’s team will meet with Graham next Tuesday.
“Michigan DT Mason Graham is visiting the Browns on Monday, then the Raiders on Tuesday,” the insider reported via @AdamSchefter. It’s worth noting that the Raiders hold the 6th pick in the upcoming Draft, which will take place on April 24 at Lambeau Field.
