Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe shares an emotional message with NBA Draft decision announcement

The end of the college basketball season is always the same. It leads to the transfer portal, old faces in new places, and the best prospects taking their talents to the pro.

Of course, this season wasn’t the exception to that rule. As expected, the highest-touted recruits in the nation have declared their intention to enter the 2025 NBA Draft.

Unsurprisingly, Baylor star shooting guard VJ Edgecombe just joined the list. With that in mind, he penned a heartfelt message to bid farewell to his fans and the program.

“To my coaches and teammates: thank you for challenging me every single day and helping me grow into the best version of myself. To the amazing Baylor fans: thank you for welcoming me and making me feel like one of your own. I’ll always be grateful for the love and support. After many heartfelt talks with my family and coaches, I’ve made the decision to declare for the 2025 NBA Draft,” he wrote.

Edgecombe has drawn comparisons to other athletic and big-bodied guards like Russell Westbrook. That’s a lot to say, being that he’s a former MVP and walking triple-double machine.

Of course, he still needs to work on several flaws in his game, and he can’t rely solely on athleticism in the pros. However, his sky-high upside makes him one of the most enticing prospects in his class.
