The UConn Huskies were dealt a massive blow. Following a disappointing season and a tough end to the campaign in the NCAA Tournament, things didn’t get any better in the offseason.

They hoped to have four-star shooting guard Darius Adams on campus next season. They landed him over other powerhouses like Alabama, Kansas, Michigan, St. John’s.

The Manasquan, N.J native initially committed to play for UConn because he wanted to be close to home. Now, it seems like coach Dan Hurley will have to change his plans.

Darius Adams wanted to be close to home

“First and foremost, it’s close to home. And then the coaching staff, loved being around them. Their intensity in practice I really like, I want to be pushed hard I want to earn something, so I think I will do that (at UConn),” Adams said.

Clearly, that’s not going to be the case anymore. He will now be up for grabs again, and given his ability to make shots from all three levels, he’s going to be highly recruited.

Given Coach Hurley’s temper and volatile nature, it shouldn’t take long before we hear his thoughts on this matter, and he’s not likely to mince his words when he finally opens up on it.
