For most of their history, the Duke Blue Devils have had nothing but the crème of the crop. They always get some of the highest-touted and most sought-after recruits in the nation.



Notably, that won’t be the exception to this rule. They secured commitments from star twins Cameron and Cayden Boozer, who will follow in their father’s footsteps in Durham before turning pro.



Cameron is the higher-ranked prospect between the two. However, it seems like he’s seen his NIL value drop by slightly over $500,000 over the past couple of weeks.



<h2>Cameron Boozer’s NIL value drops</h2>



“On Tuesday, the 6-foot-9, 235-pounder’s NIL valuation dropped by $68,000, bringing it down into the $1.5 million range,” reported Spencer Ostrow.

Needless to say, it’s not like the young star is in for the money. His father did pretty well during his playing days, so he and his brothers don’t have to work a day in their lives.

Also, if he ends up making it to the NBA as a lottery pick, like most scouts and experts expect, it won’t be long before he recovers that lost money and so much more.

The UConn Huskies’ male <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> team is coming off a disappointing season. Their struggles weren’t so common for a team coming off back-to-back championships.



Notably, that’s why Dan Hurley knew he had to get to work and bring in some high-level help in the transfer portal. He did so by bringing in forward Dwayne Koroma (Le Moyne), forward Jacob Ross (Minnesota), and guard Alec Millender (IU Indianapolis).



With that in mind, the renowned and controversial head coach sat down with Huskies beat writer Joe Arruda to reveal what these new players will bring to the table:

The championship-winning coach then went on to talk about Ross and Millender, both of whom are expected to embrace a big role for his program right out of the gay. 



“Jacob Ross obviously comes from a great family we know well and will fit in seamlessly with our culture,” Hurley continued. “He is a gifted athlete who has played on winning teams. We’re excited about his development and can’t wait to get him to campus. Alec (Millender) is a guard that has played in a ton of games and has consistently leveled up. He can score, distribute and has turned into an excellent outside shooter. His toughness and game experience will fit in well with our program.”

Hurley may not be that popular, but he surely knows how to bring the most out of his talents, and it’ll be interesting to see how this team fares after a tough campaign in 2024.

The South Carolina Gamecocks will have to hit the drawing board again. They failed to compete in the most crucial game of the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> season, and they were left empty-handed.



With that in mind, legendary head coach Dawn Staley brought some help to Columbia. She hired assistant coach Wendale Farrow to replace Wiston Gandy, who left to become a head coach of his own.



And while it’s still way too early and the team has yet to take the court, it seems like coach Staley has been more than satisfied with the early returns of this new partnership.

 “(Farrow) has been great,” Staley said. “We wanted a prototype of Winston and we’ve come really close as far as expertise, as far as work ethic.”

The 37-year-old head coach arrives in South Carolina after spending the past four years as an assistant coach at Southern California, and Coach Staley loves his approach to the players: 



“(Farrow’s) probably a little different in that he’s a little more outgoing, like he’s expressive,” Staley said. “There’s no fat to Winston. He’s just really lean with everything that he does. (Farrow) is a lot more energetic, a lot more outgoing and really can connect with our players — in a different way.”

The Gamecocks were projected to win the championship last season, but they couldn’t execute in the final game. Now, with a new-look roster and coaching staff, they will look to get back on top.

For years, John Calipari was in charge of taking the Kentucky Wildcats all the way. He had nothing but the finest recruits, several of whom ended up being high lottery picks.



That’s why some people were so worried about the future of the program once he left to join the Arkansas Razorbacks, thinking they would lose their magic and recruiting pedigree.



However, as much as things are tough in transition years, Mark Pope did a solid job in his first year in charge. That’s why former NBA star John Wall, one of Calipari’s top recruits, had to give him his flowers.

“I’m happy for Mark Pope. I got an opportunity to meet him this past summer, or last summer, in Indiana when it was an EYBL tournament going on. Talked to him for a little bit. They got a lot of great pieces coming in this year with some good pieces coming back,” Wall told Matt Jones of KSR.

Of course, Pope will have some big shoes to fill, and it will be easier said than done, but he knew that when he took the job, so that shouldn’t come as a surprise.

The UConn Huskies’ male basketball team is coming off quite a disappointing season. They failed to live up to the hype and expectations as the back-to-back national champions.



Now, to add insult to injury, one of Dan Hurley’s inner-circle guys will no longer be around. Just like what happens at this point every year, other teams came up knocking to swoop assistant coaches and lure them to new places.



That was the case with Matthew Johnson, who served as the program’s video and scouting coordinator since he took the position back in 2022. Per his own announcement, he will now be an assistant coach at Princeton.



<h2>Former scouting coordinator leaves UConn</h2>



“During my time at UConn, I have been fortunate to learn so much about coaching, building relationships, and what it takes to sustain excellence. Yet, after six seasons, my family at UConn since 2018, and I are thrilled to return home to New Jersey as the newest Tigers in the Princeton community,” said Johnson.

Johnson had been with the Huskies as a graduate assistant back in June 2019 after getting his master’s degree. He will now be an assistant coach under Mitch Henderson.

He was an instrumental piece who helped the team win consecutive NCAA Tournament titles and win the Big East regular season title, with the team winning 74% of their games during his tenure.

There was a time when the was a legitimate debate about whether Carmelo Anthony should be the first-overall pick in the 2003 NBA Draft. That speaks volumes about how good he was in high school and college.



Eventually, Anthony slipped to the third spot to the Denver Nuggets, with LeBron James going to the Cleveland Cavaliers and infamous bust Darko Milicic falling to the Detroit Pistons at No. 2.



Now, his son Kiyan Antohny is looking forward to following in his footsteps at the University of Syracuse. And while he’s not as highly-touted as his old man, he actually believes he’s a better shooter than him.

“The way we score is kind of similar, like shooting and getting to the basket. I looked at his highlights and I looked at my highlights and it’ll be like some similarity there,” he said on the Sloane Knows podcast. “I feel like I shoot a little better than him at this age. He was a little bit taller, and he got to the basket a little more so I feel like I could shoot a little better shooter than him.”

Anthony is one of the highest-ranked players in the state of New York, and he will have one year to make his case for being a lottery pick like his father was a little over two decades ago.

And after spending his entire life working out with NBA players and NBA-caliber coaches, perhaps he has a valid case, and he’s, in fact, a better shooter than the perennial All-Star.

Now, the NIL era has allowed programs to do that upfront, all while the players are free to sign endorsement deals. Needless to say, that has been very lucrative to some.



Notably, that includes Duke superstar Cooper Flagg, the highest-ranked prospect in his class. According to a report by sports journalist and author Howard Bryant, the young forward made a lot of money as a freshman. 



<h2>Cooper Flagg made $28 million in college</h2>



“He had a $13 million deal with New Balance and then $15 million with Fanatics,” Bryant revealed.

With that kind of money, he could’ve definitely stayed on campus for at least another season, like he said he wanted. Then again, that was never a realistic possibility.

Now, one can only wonder how much money the projected first-overall pick is going to make off endorsements alone, with his first NBA contract projected to fetch something close to four years and $62 million.

The BYU Cougars will be one of the most-talked-about teams in all of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> next season. That’s the kind of effect that landing a higher-echelon recruit can have on a program.



AJ Dybantsa will turn a lot of heads from day one, as he’s projected to be the first-overall pick in next year’s NBA Draft, and some think he could’ve even earned that distinction this season.



Dybtansa is a polished player who can do a little bit of everything. And according to coach Kevin Young, it seems like he’s been hitting some shots from behind a four-point line.

“[AJ] loves that four-point line, even when he came on the visit,” Young shared. “That’s something that dates back to my time with the 76ers. That was something Brett Brown, who was the head coach, implemented and the NBA started to do it. It’s more of a spacing cue for us — just trying to give ourselves as much space as we can.”

In today’s positionless basketball era, everybody will be asked to step up to the perimeter and knock down shots from deep, and it’s smart of Dybantsa to try and get used to the NBA range.

Dawn Staley is already on her way to becoming one of the best coaches in NCAA history. The former University of Virginia star went from being a star on the court to transition into a coaching role, which she has excelled at.&nbsp;



However, it wasn’t an easy journey for Staley, who entered this world without having experience and not knowing the first team about coaching. Talking with TODAY.com, the South Carolina Gamecocks’ coach recalled how she was first offered the role to lead Temple University’s women’s basketball team in 2005.&nbsp;



At first, she wondered why she would take such a difficult responsibility, but everything fell into place for her success.

“I didn’t know that, because I thought about all the other things that would deter me from coaching,” she said. “I’m responsible for 18-to-22-year-olds, and (I was) young myself, I’m 29, 30 years old. Why would I take on all that responsibility when they may not have a disciplined parent like I had?” Staley, 55, recalls. “Like, I knew I was not going to shame my family’s name. I knew that I was going to work hard with everything. I’m going to be respectful if somebody is telling me something … everybody doesn’t grow up in a household like that.”



Flash forward, 20 years later, she’s one of the best in the game after creating a juggernaut that often competes for championships.&nbsp;



<h2>Dawn Staley on how she decided to start coaching&nbsp;</h2>



While she had doubts about how she could fare as a coach, Dawn Staley changed her mind about that career when athletic director Dave O’Brien challenged her to turn the program around.



“He walked me into the challenge of turning their program around, and I’m drawn to challenges,” Staley says. “I took the job two weeks later.”

She then joined South Carolin in 2008 before leading the program to seven NCAA Final Four appearances in the past 10 tournaments. What started as some sort of experiment turned out to be a terrific career that is years away from its end for Staley.

AJ Dybantsa was one of the most sought-after high school players before he committed to the Brigham Young University men’s basketball team, the Cougars. He’s set to begin his collegiate career in Provo, Utah, after making a surprising selection.&nbsp;



In times where prospects tend to have as many cameras as possible when announcing their college commitments, Dybantsa took a different route. He wasn’t on live TV or with a lot of people around him waiting for the big moment.&nbsp;



Instead, he called his then-future head coach, Kevin Young, over FaceTime to let him know the good news. Speaking on how he dropped the news to Young, Dybantsa didn’t elaborate much on that.



<h2>AJ Dybantsa wasn’t interested in making a big deal out of his college commitment</h2>



“I just told him I’m coming,” Dybantsa revealed.&nbsp;

The BYU Cougars finished with a 26-10 record in 2024-25, including a 14-6 record in the conference, ranking third in the Big 12 standings after the season was over. They went all the way to the NCAA tournament’s Sweet 16, where the Alabama Crimson Tide took care of them with a 113-88 loss.&nbsp;They are eager to rebound and Dybantsa would probably be of great help to achieve that.



<h2>AJ Dybantsa rejected iconic programs to join BYU&nbsp;</h2>



Coming out of Utah Prep, AJ Dybantsa is was considered the No. 1 recruit in the country by ESPN. His name drew a lot of attention from popular programs. Among the group of candidates that showed interest in him, North Carolina, Alabama and Kansas were some of the most famous.&nbsp;



Dybantsa is not so far from home now and will have the chance to share touches with talented teammates such as Robert Wright, Richie Saunders, Keba Keita and Kennard Davis Jr.&nbsp;

He could have created a terrific tandem with Darryn Peterson in Kansas, but they will clash with one another instead.

Dawn Staley and NBA legend Magic Johnson had a special moment on X after the legendary coach gifted the five-time NBA champion a copy of her book, “Uncommon Favor.”



Staley is already a legend of the game, having led the South Carolina Gamecocks women’s team to multiple championships, including full seasons without a single defeat on their record and running through some remarkable names.&nbsp;



After leading the Gamecocks to another national championship game in 2024-25, Staley stayed away from the court to reflect and prepare for the 2025-26 season. Meanwhile, she released her book, which drew a lot of attention within the basketball world.

JuJu Watkins has everything to become another women’s basketball sensation after Caitlin Clark and Paige Bueckers, two guards who dominated <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball </a>before going pro and continuing to write their legacy in the WNBA.&nbsp;



Watkins just finished her sophomore season with the USC Trojans, leaving good sensations again before a season-ending injury took her down and ended her team’s chances to compete for the NCAA championship.&nbsp;Even so, Watkins remains a big deal in the world of basketball. She’s expected to return stronger from the ACL she suffered during the national tournament and continue to dominate college hoops.&nbsp;

“I’m probably as excited about coaching him as I have anybody that I’ve ever recruited,” Self said.&nbsp;“I think he’s probably the most prepared, equipped 18-year-old I’ve had the chance to recruit,” the coach added.&nbsp;



Kansas has had other No. 1 recruits during Bill Self’s remarkable tenure. They hosted Andrew Wiggins and Josh Jackson and also an unpolished Joel Embiid, who went on to have a terrific NBA career, individually speaking.&nbsp;

The Dallas Mavericks caused a stir after they unexpectedly traded Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers ahead of the 2025 NBA trade deadline. While they paired Anthony Davis with Kyrie Irving, many fans believed Doncic gave them a better chance to compete for championships.&nbsp;

“I would say, more than anything, it makes the [championship] window 20 years instead of three… We’re trying to win it every single year and the guys that we have, we felt like before this draft lottery, that we had a good enough team to win a championship. Now we get the chance to add the number one pick to this? We’re ecstatic for that, but it’s business as usual for us and whoever we get, which the kid from Duke, as you’ve mentioned, you’re bringing in someone that’s won everywhere he’s been,” he said.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights star Ace Bailey is one of the most famous and exciting prospects entering the 2025 NBA Draft. The guard spent only one season in college before making the jump to the pros, where he’s expected to shine from the very beginning.&nbsp;



In a class full of talent, including Duke’s Cooper Flagg and Kon Knueppel, Bailey’s teammate Dylan Harper, Baylor’s VJ Edgecombe and Maryland’s Derik Queen, among others, Bailey made a lot of noise during his first and only campaign at Rutgers.&nbsp;



The Scarlett Knights couldn’t compete against the stronger programs in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball </a>last season, posting a 14-17 record at the end of the season, which included a first-round elimination in the Big Ten tournament against the USC Trojans.&nbsp;Their star duo is set to take the next step in their basketball journey and they’re getting a lot of praise in the process.&nbsp;

The former New York Knicks and Denver Nuggets’ star lauded the guard during a recent appearance on the “Podcast P” show with Paul George: “I love Ace,” Anthony said. “His skill set and his will to get to a spot to work on certain stuff. He’s relentless working on spots on the court.”



The Syracuse Orange legend said that Bailey’s game resembles other players, which is why he doesn’t get as much attention and credit as others.&nbsp;



“We’ve seen Ace before,” Anthony said. “That’s why it’s not talked about like that. We’ve seen Ace, we’ve seen PG, we’ve seen KG, we’ve seen Melo. That’s why it’s not talked about.”

Bailey could be the first name to be called after Cooper Flagg goes to the Dallas Mavericks, but time will tell how soon he’s off the board.&nbsp;
