Villanova legend Jay Wright has bad news for Jalen Brunson and the Knicks

The New York Knicks fell just two wins short of returning to the NBA Finals for the first time in over two decades. Shockingly, that led to Tom Thibodeau losing his job.

It didn’t take long before fans and analysts flooded social media with potential replacements for the veteran coach, and the legendary Jay Wright was a common name on that list.

Nevertheless, it seems like the college basketball legend isn’t interested in coming out of retirement, not even to coach his former players at Madison Square Garden.

Jay Wright won’t take the Knicks’ coaching job

“Sources: Jay Wright is not a candidate for the New York Knicks head coaching vacancy,” CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein posted on X. “Wright and Leon Rose regularly speak and Rose is aware that Wright is happily retired from coaching.”

Wright had obvious ties to the Knicks, as he won a national championship in college with Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, and Josh Hart. Even so, he’s not coming back.
