<p>Years before <strong>Cooper Flagg </strong>suited up for the Duke Blue Devils, NBA scouts and experts already had him as the consensus best player in his class. As such, he was also the projected first-overall pick.</p>



<p>Fast forward to today, and the young forward still sits on a tier of his own. Barring a major catastrophe or a shocking turn of events, he’s going to<strong> play for the Dallas Mavericks.</strong></p>



<p>That’s why, according to a report by ESPN insiders<strong> Jonathan Givony and Shams Charania</strong>, he doesn’t even intend to work out for or meet with any other NBA team ahead of the draft. </p>



<h2>Cooper Flagg won’t even work out for other teams</h2>



<p><strong><em>“Flagg is not planning on conducting any additional visits, sources said, and both sides are aligned on his arrival as the No. 1 pick in Dallas</em></strong>,” Givony and Charania wrote.</p>

<p>The <strong>Kentucky Wildcats </strong>just caught a big break. One of their NBA Draft hopefuls, Otega Oweh, shockingly chose to withdraw from consideration and return to college instead.</p>



<p>Oweh is coming off posting <strong>All-SEC honors,</strong> and he averaged a whopping 16.2 points, 4.7 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in 36 appearances for Mark Pope’s team.</p>



<p>That’s why, when he tried to get Coach Pope on the phone, he didn’t hesitate to pick up, even though he was literally on a plane <strong>and wasn’t even allowed to have his phone turned on.</strong></p>

<p><em>“First off, I was on a plane, and I don’t understand why or how, but the call actually came through. Otega called me and said coach let’s do this I’m coming back. <p>The Spurs will most likely take Rutgers sta<strong>r Dylan Harper </strong>with the No. 2 selection, but they also have the No. 14 pick, and while Malauch is projected to be off the board earlier, perhaps they could find a way to trade up.</p>

<p>That’s why he was the consensus first-overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft, and while, after all these years, he still cherishes his days at Lexington and continues to<strong> root heavily for the Wildcats. </strong></p>

<p>“<em>Kentucky’s always home for me. There’s always love. That’s the school I went to, the jersey I put on. They gave me the opportunity to reach one of my goals and dreams in life to play college basketball, and play on one of the biggest levels for one of the best schools in the country, and a good opportunity to go to the league. <p>The <strong>Kentucky Wildcats</strong> made a big gamble when they chose Mark Pope to be <strong>John Calipari’s successor</strong> in charge of the program. So far, that gamble has paid off.</p>



<p>Needless to say, the team has yet to reach the heights it reached in the past, and they’re no longer the program to beat for the top-notch commits. Even so, <strong>they’re still a powerhouse.</strong></p>



<p>That’s why, after assessing their roster and the recent moves they made, <a href="http://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> legend <strong>Dick Vitale </strong>had some good news for Coach Pope and company. He listed them No. 11 ahead of next season. </p>

<p>Even so, that might not be enough to convince experts that they’re still one of the top ten teams in the nation. As reported by<strong> Matt Giles of Sports Illustrated,</strong> ESPN expert Jeff Borzello dropped Duke in his latest rankings. </p>

<p><em>“In his latest projected top 25 released on Monday, Borzello dropped the Blue Devils <strong>from No. 6 to No. 12 overall,</strong> marking the biggest fall among the squads still appearing in his rankings,</em>” wrote Giles.</p>



<p>Unsurprisingly, that means the Blue Devils are no longer the highest-ranked ACC team anymore, with Louisville topping them at No. 7.<strong> NC State and UNC round up the top 25 at No. 24 and No. 25, respectively.</strong></p>

<p>Ever since the dawn of<a href="http://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> college basketball</a>, the <strong>Duke Blue Devils</strong> have been one of those teams everybody loves to hate. They’re a powerhouse, and they have as many fans as haters.</p>



<p>That has plenty to do with the revolving door of superstar prospects they’ve had in their ranks. And, being their coach for decades,<strong> Mike ‘Coach K’ Kryzyewski</strong> coached his fair share of superstars.</p>



<p>That’s why there’s no one better to rank Duke players than him. And in a recent interview, he finally put the debate between <strong>Grant Hill, Christian Laettner, and Cooper Flagg</strong> to rest. </p>



<h2>Coach K says Cooper Flagg is the greatest Duke freshman of all time</h2>



<p><em>“Grant [Hill] is the best player to ever play at Duke, [Christian] Laettner is the most accomplished,”</em> Kryzyewski said. <strong><em>“Cooper [Flagg] is definitely the best freshman that has ever played.”</em></strong></p>

<p>While he didn’t lead the team to a national championship, it’s hard to disagree with Coach Kryzyewski <strong>when we take a look at Flagg’s remarkable numbers as a freshman.</strong></p>

<p>There’s a major head coaching opening in the<strong> NBA.</strong> Following their elimination in the Eastern Conference Finals, the<strong> New York Knicks</strong> chose to part ways with coach Tom Thibodeau.</p>



<p>Unsurprisingly, it didn’t take long before <strong>Rick Pitino’s</strong> name made its way online. He coached the Knicks in the late 80s and won 52 games in his second season there before going back to college to coach the University of Kentucky.</p>



<p>The <strong>St. John’s coach </strong>was quick to congratulate the Knicks on social media after their season ended, and it didn’t do much to help with the speculation linking him to the team.</p>



<h2>Rick Pitino sends message to Knicks after elimination</h2>



<p>“<em>Major congrats to the entire New York Knicks organization,</em>” Pitino tweeted. <em>“The players and coaches were awesome. Lot of fun watching young men give every ounce they have in them. <strong>Next year we go further!”</strong></em></p>

<p>The Knicks’ decision to part ways with Coach Thibodeau was surprising, and it shows that the front office <strong>might be entering desperation territory</strong> with this core of players.</p>

<p>Reaching the Eastern Conference Finals wasn’t enough for the New York Knicks. Following another elimination by the Indiana Pacers, they chose to part ways with <strong>Tom Thibodeau.</strong></p>



<p>It was a somewhat surprising decision, and there will be no shortage of candidates looking to jump on board and bring back hope to <strong>Madison Square Garden.</strong></p>



<p>With that in mind, Tom Haberstroh of Yahoo Sports<strong> pointed to John Calipari</strong> as a potential candidate, as he’s already coached in the NBA and in the same area, and he has a close relationship with fellow former Wildcat Karl-Anthony Towns. </p>



<h2>The Knicks could make a run at John Calipari</h2>



<p><em>“There’s a man who knows how to win with Karl-Anthony Towns. This man also won an NBA Coach of the Year award and also happens to know what it’s like to hold an NBA coaching job in the Tri-State area. <strong>Step right up, John Calipari!”</strong></em><strong> </strong>wrote Haberstroh.</p>

<p>He might be talking about the <strong>NABC Coach of the Year award,</strong> which he’s won three times and as recently as in 2015. Whatever the case, he’s certainly an intriguing coach.</p>

<p>It’s been a little over two decades since the Syracuse Orange had<strong> Carmelo Anthony</strong> leading them to the national championship. Now, his son Kiyan will try to do the same.</p>



<p>Needless to say, that will be way easier said than done, and while he’s a highly-touted prospect, he’s not <strong>the same five-star phenom </strong>his old man was back in his heyday.</p>



<p>Even so, basketball isn’t the<strong> most important thing for the Anthonys, </strong>or at least not for Melo. Talking on his podcast, he got emotional and talked about how he hopes his son wants to be like him one day. Not as a hooper but as a man. </p>

<p><em>“That’s my first superhero. I want to be like my dad… So when it’s time for them to look in the mirror and say, Do I, can I be this? Am I that? Am I on my way to being that? Or in my way to being better than that? <strong>It’s a self-check that you got to look in the mirror, and you want to say that</strong>. I want to be like my dad,”</em> Anthony said. </p>
