<p>The <strong>UConn Huskies</strong> are walking on clouds right now. They’re fresh off winning the national championship after an almost-perfect season to finally put an end to their title drought.</p>



<p>However, there’s a downside to everything. They lost one of the best players in program history when<strong> Paige Bueckers</strong> became the first-overall pick of the 2025 <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/wnba">WNBA </a>Draft.</p>



<p>The Huskies have a long history of landing the best players in women’s <a href="http://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a>. <p>Fulwiley was a big spark off the bench for Dawn Staley and the Gamecocks last season. She played in all 77 games and averaged <strong>11.7 points, 2.1 assists, 2.9 rebounds, and 1.6 steals per game.</strong></p>

<p>Needless to say, making up for Bueckers’ efficient and explosive scoring and playmaking will be a lot to ask, but Fulwiley’s <strong>elite defensive skills </strong>and veteran leadership could certainly help this program.</p>

Now, another issue threatens the status quo, as multiple athletes have had their visas revoked under <strong>the Donald Trump administration.</strong></p>



<p>Of course, that’s something that <strong>Geno Auriemma</strong> and the UConn Huskies will take quite seriously. They had Egyptian player Jana El Alffy on their roster last season, and they will add more international players for next year: Gandy Malou-Mamel of Ireland and Blanca Quiñonez of Ecuador.</p>



<p>That’s why, now that UConn announced that the federal government revoked the visas of 13 members of the community, <strong>including 12 students</strong>, coach Auriemma had to share his thoughts on this delicate matter. </p>

<p><strong><em>“Yeah, you can’t control it. And once again, it’s a strange world we live in, right?”</em></strong> Auriemma said. <em>“You do everything right, and then all of a sudden you’re told, that doesn’t work anymore. I don’t get it. Thank God I became a citizen in 1994, huh? I’d be the first coach deported.<strong> It’s a weird time to be in the U.S. But I’m confident that whether it’s with Jana or Blanca, or whoever else down the road, that the goal is to go after the bad people. I don’t think you’re going to find any on my team.”</strong></em></p>

<p>Flagg is firmly expected to be the first overall pick, for many reasons. With that in mind, Blue Devils coach<strong> Jon Scheyer </strong>shared his honest thoughts on why he’s the best player in his class. </p>

<p>Now, it seems like he won’t be alone. The Cougars also landed a star point guard in <strong>Robert Wright III,</strong> who will transfer there after averaging 11.5 points, 4.2 assists, 2.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals per game last season.</p>



<p>Hopefully, they can do what <strong>Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper </strong>couldn’t do with Rutgers this season, and, judging by Dybantsa’s words, he’s looking forward to playing with his new playmaker. </p>

<p>Edgecombe has drawn comparisons to other athletic and big-bodied guards like <strong>Russell Westbrook.</strong> That’s a lot to say, being that he’s a former MVP and walking triple-double machine.</p>

<p>They hoped to have four-star shooting guard<strong> Darius Adams </strong>on campus next season. They landed him over other powerhouses like Alabama, Kansas, Michigan, St. John’s.</p>



<p>The Manasquan, N.J native initially committed to play for UConn because he wanted to be close to home. Now, it seems like <strong>coach Dan Hurley </strong>will have to change his plans.</p>

<p><em><strong>“First and foremost, it’s close to home. And then the coaching staff, loved being around them. Their intensity in practice I really like, I want to be pushed hard I want to earn something, so I think I will do that (at UConn),”</strong></em> Adams said.</p>

<p>As good a player as Hidalgo is, she has rubbed plenty of people the wrong way with her <strong>homophobic remarks. </strong>That has also propelled rumors about a potential estranged relationship with some of her teammates.</p>

<p>Even if that’s the case, Hidalgo will continue to be one of the show-stoppers in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketbal</a>l, and she has an opportunity to go down as the<strong> greatest female college hooper of all time. </strong></p>

<p>The <strong>USC Trojans</strong> were so close to the ultimate glory this season, and we could’ve had the most anticipated matchup in women’s <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> in the championship game.</p>



<p>Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible, as superstar guard JuJu Watkins tore her ACL in a second-round win over Mississippi State, putting an end to the dream of watching her and<strong> Paige Bueckers </strong>go toe-to-toe in the tournament.</p>



<p>The Trojans eventually lost to UConn in the Final Four, which was a predictable outcome without their best player. Fortunately, according to coach Lindsay Gottlieb, her star guard <strong>is doing just fine right now. </strong></p>



<h2>JuJu Watkins is ‘doing great,’ says coach </h2>



<p><em>“She’s doing great,” </em>Gottlieb told TMZ. “<em>She’s doing great.</em> <strong><em>She’s in focus mode, rehab mode.”</em></strong></p>

<p>Even so, it’s hard to believe that Watkins will be able to suit up next season, as ACL injuries usually require one full year to recover, <strong>and she has a future in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/wnba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WNBA</a> to worry about.</strong></p>

<p>The Trojans also lost <strong>Rayah Marshall and Kiki Irafien</strong> to the 2025 WNBA Draft, so there will be plenty of holes to fill to get this team back to the mountaintop next season.</p>

<p>Year in and year out, the<strong> UConn Huskies </strong>are expected to compete at the highest level in<a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"> college basketball</a>. They’re a powerhouse, and as such, there’s no margin for error.</p>



<p>Notably, that’s the standard that <strong>Dan Hurley</strong> has set for himself and the program. However, as we all know by now, you can’t win all the time, and the losses are often louder.</p>



<p>Coach Hurely has never been known for being a good sport after losses. He cusses, <strong>throws temper tantrums</strong>, and rarely takes accountability. Now, we finally know why. </p>



<h2>Dan Hurley says he’s ashamed of losing</h2>



<p><strong><em>“Shame. When you lose, you feel embarrassment that who you are failed. It may seem strange, but this is my life’s work,”</em></strong> Hurley told Esquire.<em> “You pour everything you have into this—building your style of play, developing the players, the skills, the mindset, putting together this team that’s going to be able to achieve and defeat others and win championships. And then when it doesn’t come together like that—it hurts. It’s shame.”</em></p>



<p>Everybody can relate to that sentiment. Then again, as the leader of a basketball program and a mentor for young men, he should be <strong>a little more in control of his emotions at times.</strong></p>

<p>Still, that’s just the way he is. He’s found<strong> more than enough success in his coaching career</strong>, so it’s hard to believe he’s going to change his ways at this point in his life.</p>
