The Red Storm had been aggressively pursuing some upgrades for their roster after their heartbreaking end to the season. Now, they’ve just gotten what the doctor ordered.



According to multiple reports, they were able to lure former North Carolina Tar Heel guard Ian Jackson. Per Evan Massey of Athlon Sports, he will be a crucial contributor to their offense.

“He will bring scoring and shooting to the table for Pitino. Those are areas St. John’s needed to improve,” wrote Massey.

Jackson was one of the featured guys for the Tar Heels’ offense last season. He made 36 appearances with 12 starts, and he was on the floor for almost 24 minutes a night.

Last season, Jackson averaged 11.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 0.9 assists per game as an off-ball threat, knocking down 45.6% of his shots and almost 40% of his three-pointers.

They’re tied for the highest odds (14%) to land the first-overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Unfortunately, as team analyst Matt John pointed out, they have never found luck in the lottery.

“By getting the league’s worst record, the Jazz can’t fall lower than the No. 5 pick,” wrote John. “Even so, in all the times the Jazz have played the odds, they’ve never moved up higher than their pre-lottery position. Three times, they’ve moved backward. Last year, they had the eighth-best odds and wound up with the No. 10 pick, which turned out to be Cody Williams.”

Of course, it’s not like the Jazz have fully embraced the tank, either. If anything, they’ve tried to stay competitive despite not having as much talent as other Western Conference teams.



They absolutely tried to get the worst record this time around, and while history hasn’t been kind to them, the odds seem to be in their favor, and it’s hard to think of a better draft class to end this curse.

“The Sixers have a higher chance of landing a top-three pick than everyone thought coming into the season. And Bailey would fit like an essential glove in their core. The team has play-makers in Embiid, Maxey and even last year’s rookie in Jared McCain, so Bailey would be fire up plenty of shots off-ball,” Parker wrote. “Even more, Philadelphia signed on George in the offseason for essentially that exact role, so Bailey would be able to learn on the wing from a longtime great.”

Of course, this will all depend on the NBA Draft lottery and the team’s evaluation of Paul George’s future with the team. But, on paper at least, he should be a no-brainer pick.

He entered the season as the most-anticipated and talked-about prospect in the nation, and, more often than not, he proved why everybody was so eager to get him.



However, as big a star as he was during his lone year in Durham, ESPN pundit Stephen A. Smith still has some concerns about his clutch gene. Talking on ‘First Take,’ he pointed out that Flagg missed four game-winning shots in one season.

“The only blemish on his career is, there was four times that he had a chance to win a game and he failed,” Smith said. “All four times, you know, but that’s just the last play, the game-winning shot. Even so, Smith acknowledged that Flagg’s physical traits and elite skill set made him a no-brainer to be the first player taken off the board come the upcoming NBA Draft:



“But in the end, he’s 6’8-6’9, his ball-handling skills, his shot-making skills from shot-range, long-range, can play with his back to the basket, facing the basket,” added Smith. “Plus he’ll defend, plus he’ll block shots. This brother is the total package. And he is going to be the No. 1 overall pick in this upcoming <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> Draft. It is no secret what he was going to do because there’s no reason for him not to. He’s that dude.”

At the end of the day, there are some things you just can’t measure in a player. You either have it or you don’t. Then again, that should have no effect on his draft stock whatsoever.

Geno Auriemma just wrapped up his 40th season at the helm of UConn women’s basketball in storybook fashion—by cutting down the nets at March Madness. The 12-time national champion earned a base salary of $3.34 million during the 2024-25 campaign, with postseason bonuses pushing that figure north of $4 million. On the other side of that championship showdown was Dawn Staley and the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/south-carolina">South Carolina Gamecocks</a>, but the head coach likely isn’t losing sleep—especially after pocketing her own impressive season earnings.



The Huskies and Gamecocks have become staple programs in women’s college basketball, with deep runs during the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/ncaa">NCAA</a> Tournament becoming yearly traditions for these schools, while others see it as once-in-a-lifetime experiences.



Thanks to their remarkable success at their respective programs, both schools had no hesitation in locking in their head coaches to multi-million dollar deals. The contracts were massive, but no one in Storrs or Columbia is second-guessing a thing—Auriemma and Staley have more than earned every penny, and their schools would hand them those deals again in a heartbeat.



In May 2024, Auriemma signed a five-year extension with the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/uconn">Huskies</a> worth $18.7 million, averaging $3.74 million annually, according to USA Today. The contract also includes multiple performance-based bonuses and a $200,000 annual escalator to his base salary. His salary for the upcoming season will be of $3.54 millions.

For instance, during the past season—when UConn captured its 12th national title—Auriemma earned $737,500 in bonuses, raising his total compensation to over $4 million in Storrs. Needless to say, the Huskies happily footed the bill for their record-setting head coach.

The three-time national championship-winning coach will earn an annual salary of $4 million, which includes a $500,000 signing bonus and a $250,000 annual escalator—bringing the total value to approximately $25.25 million over five seasons, per ESPN. 



That number doesn’t take into account any performance-based bonuses which the deal includes. During the Gamecocks’ runner-up finish in March Madness 2025, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball/while-uconn-hc-geno-auriemma-earned-a-300k-bonus-how-much-would-have-dawn-staley-earned-with-a-national-title">Staley would have earned a $500,000 bonus</a> if they had beaten Auriemma’s Huskies, according to Essentially Sports.

Auriemma, on the other hand, took home a $300,000 championship bonus. Still, $300,000 in hand beats $500,000 on paper—especially when it comes with the untouchable memory of cutting down the nets in such dominant fashion.

That’s especially true for Cameron, as the power forward just became one of three players to ever be named Gatorade National Basketball Player of the Year twice, as pointed out by Columbus High School on social media.

He’s been the projected first overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft for the past couple of years now, even before he made his <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> debut for the Blue Devils.



That’s why NFL legend Shannon Sharpe mocked Duke fans for thinking he was actually going to return. Talking on ‘First Take,’ Sharpe pointed out that it was never a possibility.

“This was the worst-kept secret in America,” Sharpe said on ESPN. “And I laugh every time people say, ‘Well he might come back because he really loves college.’ Really? Really, people? Come back to do what?”

Sharpe continued by stating that returning to college didn’t make any financial sense for him, as he would’ve still gotten more money from an NBA rookie contract:



“Considering where the money is now, it makes no sense because all you’re doing is prolonging being away from the bigger bag that you’re going to get,” he said. “They’re not going to give him the NIL or the collective that he would get going number one overall or as a top-three, top-five pick. So this made no sense.”

At the end of the day, Flagg’s dream was to play in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a>, so there was no reason to delay this decision any further, and it will be a privilege to witness his journey in the pros.

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish have been through a lot over the past couple of weeks. From a heartbreaking loss in the NCAA Tournament to losing Olivia Miles, it hasn’t been easy.



Miles left the program and transferred to play for the TCU Horned Frogs, and that sparked some rumors about tension between her and star point guard Hannah Hidalgo.



Replacing a player of Miles’ caliber won’t be easy. However, the program didn’t rest on its laurels. According to Sean Stires of Yahoo Sports, they’ve landed European forward Gisela Sanchez.

“Notre Dame women’s basketball has picked up more front court help via the transfer portal. Niele Ivey’s Fighting Irish, who just saw three players drafted by <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/wnba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">WNBA</a> teams earlier this week and lost four players from this year’s roster to the transfer portal, have received a commitment from Kansas State forward Gisela Sanchez,” wrote Stires.

Standing at 6-foot-4, the senior forward spent the past couple of seasons playing for KSU after beginning her collegiate career in Arizona. She averaged 4.2 points and 3.1 rebounds in 15.4 minutes per game.



There will be plenty of attention paid to this program next season. With JuJu Watkins potentially not playing and Paige Bueckers turning pro, all eyes will be set on Hannah Hidalgo.

John Calipari is known for being one of the most successful coaches of his generation. He’s a <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> legend, and a lot of that has had to do with his ability to land top players.



That might be the case again in 2025. With the transfer portal just about to close, reports state that the Arkansas Razorbacks might land one of the most coveted players.



They already landed commitment from star power forwards Nick Pringle and Malique Ewin, and they could now get their hands on Dominican G Baker Mazara as well.

“Chad Baker-Mazara, one of the more desirable players still available in the portal, is reportedly talking to Arkansas, per Goodman Hoops,” reported Robert Marvi of Athlon Sports.

The 6-foot-7 guard has been with the Auburn Tigers for the past couple of years, and he’s coming off posting averages of 12.3 points, 3.0 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.2 steals per game.

He’s a 39.8% shooter from beyond the arc, and he’s also played at San Diego State, Duquense and Northwest Florida State College before taking his talents to Auburn.

For the past couple of years, Hailey Van Lith was one of the most accomplished players in women’s <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a>. From her success with Team USA to her play on the court, she was a bona fide star.



Unfortunately, she struggled mightily in the NCAA Tournament, and she was on the wrong end of one of Caitlin Clark’s most epic performances in his collegiate career.



Van Lith eventually opted to transfer out of LSU and play for the TCU Horned Frogs instead. As shocking as that was, coach Kim Mulkey knew she needed a change of scenery.

“Her (Hailey Van Lith) aspirations were to get drafted this year,” Mulkey said. “And she realized, ‘I need another year, and I need to go back to a place where I can relax and get back to my normal position.’ And what do you do? You hug her, and you wish her well. She wanted to improve her strengths by coming to LSU with a goal of expanding her game by learning a position that I played my entire life. Because she knows at the next level that’s her only chance – to be able to tell them somewhat, ‘I can handle the ball if you need me to.’”

Eventually, it turned out to be the best decision for Van Lith, who had a record-breaking season for the Horned Frogs and led the program deep into the tournament.
