A new college football season is just around the corner, and programs across the country are putting the final touches on preparations ahead of kickoff. The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will be looking to build on last seasonās success, and to do so, Marcus Freeman is placing his trust in what CJ Carr can bring to the team moving forward.
The final decision on who would start at quarterback for the Irish in their season opener was never going to be easy ā and it wasnāt. However, the experienced head coach is placing his trust in the new successor to Riley Leonard, believing he has the talent needed to lead the offense.
Following the announcement that the redshirt freshman will be the new signal-caller on August 31 against the Hurricanes, messages of support and congratulations quickly poured in from many of his teammates.
Logan Saldate, Malachi Fields, Jaden Greathouse, and Elijah Burress were among the many Notre Dame players who took to social media to share the post announcing CJ Carr as the new starting quarterback.
Building on last season
The Notre Dame Fighting Irish are eyeing a return to the National Championship Game, fueled by a desire for revenge after their last appearance ended in a heartbreaking loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes. With the talented Riley Leonard now in the NFL, the offense is squarely in the hands of new starting quarterback CJ Carr. But make no mistake, this isnāt a rebuilding year.
