Aaron Boone couldn’t stay silent about the painful situation the New York Yankees are going through, where they are slowly falling out of the postseason picture. However, the manager doesn’t see it that way, and he delivered a clear message to try and lift the spirits of all the team’s followers.
Boone’s words weren’t just for the players; they were also for the fans who are watching the team struggle during one of the most important months of the regular season, losing games that make their situation much more complicated. But the manager believes they can turn things around.
“I wholeheartedly believe that we are going to get rolling and turn this thing around,” Boone said about the Yankees‘ slump. “When it does, then you start to really build that next layer of confidence.”
Boone Puts Struggles in Perspective
Despite the Yankees’ recent struggles, Boone remains confident in his team’s ability to turn things around. The manager drew on historical perspective to remind fans and the media that many teams have overcome similar slumps to make a playoff push, emphasizing that the Yankees are not a lost cause.

New York Yankees head coach Aaron Boone.
“The game is littered with dead and buried teams. We’re in playoff position right now. We’ve been through two bad months where we haven’t performed at a level we need to. Go back the year before, the year before, you can pick out a number of teams that are sitting in a worse position than we are right now that go on a run. We have the people to do that, no doubt in my mind. It’s just sitting here as talk right now.”
It’s Not the Same Situation as 2023 for the Yankees
He acknowledged the team’s poor play over the last two months but insisted that their current situation is not a repeat of 2023. Boone emphasized that the team still controls its own destiny, has the talent to succeed, and simply needs to play more consistent baseball.

“We haven’t been good enough the last two months. This is different than ’23 where I didn’t think we were necessarily capable of that run that we needed to really get hot. We were out of it at that point. This is different. We’re in a position right now where we’re in control of things. We’re in a playoff spot, technically. I believe we have the people to get it done. We got to play consistent baseball, period.”
