Aaron Judge isn’t slowing down, and he certainly isn’t done reminding the baseball world why he’s among the game’s elite in 2025. The New York Yankees slugger continues to power New York’s push for a World Series title, hungry to rebound after last season’s disappointing finish at the hands of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

This month in particular, Judge has surged into the spotlight with a stretch of play that’s not only driven the Yankees‘ success but also etched his name into the record books. His recent production has echoed legendary performances dating back more than 70 years, and now, he’s added another rare feat to his growing résumé.

On Wednesday night, during the Yankees’ 1–0 win over the Los Angeles Angels, Judge drew intentional walks in both the first and second innings. While the Angels clearly aimed to avoid pitching to the red-hot slugger, their strategy helped Judge match a milestone not seen in Major League Baseball since 1953.

With those two early free passes, Judge became the first Yankees player since Gene Woodling to receive multiple intentional walks in the first two innings of a game. It’s a quirky but telling stat, and yet another reminder that when it comes to racking up historic achievements, Judge is in a league of his own.

Judge reflects on rare intentional walk milestone

Judge’s first-inning intentional walk also carried some historical weight. The moment harkened back to 2012, the last time a Yankees player received a free pass in the opening frame, Robinson Cano against the Washington Nationals.

Beyond the milestone, the Yankees continue to ride a strong wave of momentum. With 35 wins already under their belt and six straight series victories, the team is firing on all cylinders. Judge, as expected, remains at the heart of it all, delivering elite performances and timely leadership.
