Bruce Bochy questions Adolis Garcia’s decision after tough loss to Mariners

With the Rangers' loss to the Seattle Mariners, Bruce Bochy didn't hold back in expressing his frustration over a play Adolis García was expected to handle differently against the Seattle Mariners.

Bruce Bochy was unable to find a way for the Rangers to win more games on the road during a grueling seven-game stretch where they won just two. One of those wins came against the Seattle Mariners, but the final game of that series was marred by a critical mistake from Adolis García.

Following the narrow 5-4 loss to the Mariners, fans wanted to know what Bochy thought of García’s decision not to slide into second base, a play that could have helped the Rangers in the game.

Regarding that decision, Bochy stated clearly, “Absolutely no excuse in a game like… Can’t happen…” He added that he didn’t know what was going through García’s mind, saying, “I don’t know what he was thinking.”

García Has a Good Game Against Mariners

Bochy insists that when a player is in a game, they should never stop giving their full effort. “You play the game, you don’t stop,” the manager told Rangers Sports Network. Despite the criticized play, García had a relatively good game, going 3-for-3 with a home run and an RBI. His average now stands at .228.

García’s home run was his first since July 30, which came in the first of the two victories during the seven-game road trip. For the MLB season, he has a total of 16 home runs and 63 RBIs. García’s batting average is the seventh-best among his starting teammates.

Rangers’ Next Series

The long road trip is finally over, and the Rangers now return home where they can hopefully recover after losing five games. They will face a Yankees team that is also desperate for wins and is in a difficult position. At least the Rangers, who are in third place in the AL West with a 58-55 record, have a better chance of moving up in the standings.
